I love Marla! I love her shop. I've bought a few pieces from her shop that have become my favorites. I understand her being cautious. She's correct, it's her store. Be respectful and put your things in the locker as she asks. Simple. She keeps beautiful flowers across her balcony that I have loved for multiple decades.

The people who hate her really hate her, the people who like her really like her. The reviews are so radical. I say it’s quite awkward to be around her, but once you get used to her, she’s kind and agreeable. She’s just those who warm up slowly, in my opinion. Plus, she makes a point that you don’t have to come if you don’t like her. She can be grumpy, yes, but since when shopkeepers are being required of a outgoing personality? She could still have opinions of customers and be honest about it, yes? Even if that means you are angry about her choosing her customers. She’s the weird but interesting old lady with collectables, and that’s welcoming enough.

I've been going into this store for a while now and thought I should weigh in. First off, my impression of the store is overall good, they have a wide selection of items and I have always been able to find something interesting and unique. The owner is a very nice lady, and I am grateful for her help with the items and general information about the store. I think the only downside is the owner can become a little accusatory if someone brings a bag in. The store is very large and windy, and it is impossible to keep a watch on everything, so I understand why the owner wants people to leave bags in the front. I see in the reviews a lot of people are offended by her attitude, but I would like to come to her defense and say I believe she means well, and her tone just might not always be in the right place. Happens to the best of us.

Owner is awesome and has been doing it forever. The shop’s quality and selection shows it. Planning on many return trips to Mt. Vernon just to go back here!

Got a great haul today - fantastic western section, abundant lamps, unique finds, great sales, adorable cat, nice and knowledgeable owner - everything you could ask for in a thrift!

Genuinely had a great time in this store. Various antiques with varying prices. Owner was quiet, but thats no issue. The purse rule is understandable and really not an issue. And theres cats :). Worth the time to at least look around, lots of cool finds!

Very cluttered. You have to put your purse in a locker before you can even look around. It's not worth the effort, in my opinion.

No, I'm not going to steal your stuff. No, I'm not going to break anything. No, I'm not going to lock my purse in a locker. No, I'm not spending my money in your store.

If you care about old items with a rich history this antique store is the one. I’ve purchased several vintage clothing items from here spanning from 1800s bloomers to old west leather jackets. They were all in near prefect condition with at least 30% off. Lovely atmosphere as well.

Owners are knowledgeable and helpful. Shop very organized and has several floors. Lock your purse up and keep the key untol you are ready to leave...no big deal. You would do the same if you had people constantly stealing from YOU.

Wow that lady is mean. No hello, no welcome, just an immediate LOCK UP YOUR BAG IN THE LOCKER! Then kept peeping on us to see if we were stealing, lol. I assure you good Madam, That I do not need to swipe your $2 Jerry Lewis paper poster. Anyways, just another second hand store that smells like Grandma's old blankets and offers the usual second-second-hand items.A little kindness and customer service could have gone a long way.

Owner is fabulous and super knowledgeable! Store is very organized and prices are reasonable. Excellent merchandise! Purse policy not a big deal; very understandable considering the amount of theft in these stores. I always enjoy perusing this establishment and have purchased many cool pieces. Cash or check only, so make sure you are prepared in that regard.

Rude, miserable owner. Super high prices, like beyond Snoop Dogg high, even more than Willie Nelson on his tour bus, nope, we're talkin' higher than hunter in the White House high. Hated being talked down to when I was trying to get a better deal on something that "wasn't marked". Wife was super torqued about having to put her purse in a locker so that went to the car instead and stayed there 'cuz we ain't gonna buy nothing'. Hope the owner enjoys keeping her stuff...
