About Camp Ho Mita Koda
Camp Ho Mita Koda is a community retreat center and coder summer camp for kids and teens with Type 1 Diabetes. Located in Newbury, Ohio and Metamora, Michigan, the overnight and family camps welcome boys and girls in grades K-11 for one-week sessions. Founded in 1929, Camp Ho Mita Koda is the first and oldest operating summer camp and retreat center in the world for the T1D community. The camp provides a supportive environment where kids can enjoy various activities like horseback riding, canoeing, and archery, while also receiving medical support for their diabetes. Campers and their families have expressed great satisfaction with the camp, highlighting the excellent staff, fun atmosphere, and the confidence and freedom it gives the children to manage their condition. The camp has also expanded to include a satellite location in Michigan, further expanding its reach.
