Called and set up an appointment for 11/28/24 to get help with amending previous returns. Got text confirming the appointment, upon arrival greeted by a woman smoking outside that asked if we were going into H&R. I said “yes I have an appointment”, she replied in disgust putting her smoke out on the side of the building sighing “I don’t have any appointments now”. We go inside and she tells me they don’t open until 1/3/25 because that’s when the IRS starts accepting returns. I’ve been doing my own taxes for 32 years so yeah I already know this. When I called they said I could get help amending returns and the file them later when the IRS accepts them. Lady there said they only would do the “emerald advances”, I don’t need an emerald advance I make almost $200K/year and I had some questions and wanted help with amending a return to change filing status from MFS to MFJ. After this ridiculous waste of time I thought back to when I was about 20 and had the same type of experience at a different H&R because I got laughed at for making about $18K and didn’t know how to file taxes properly, that’s when I went ahead and learned how to do this on my own. I will amend my own returns like I’ve done my own taxes all these years. I urge everyone who sees this to just learn your own tax situations and use any tax preparing software because they do the exact same thing as these people. If you don’t believe it use the software to get your refund amount then take your taxes to H&R to compare, the software gets you maximum refund with way less cost. I’ll never attempt to get help with any of these companies like H&R as long as I have breath in my body. I had minimum of an hour of my day wasted for believing that they care about customers, they do NOT care about people thats why their fees are so outrageous and they absolutely couldn’t care less about you as a human or your financial situation. I work as a project manager dealing directly in customer relations and this is NOT how business is conducted. She could’ve dealt with at least starting the paperwork side of my amended returns but offered absolutely nothing as I walked out of the building. Never again H&R, what a joke.

Had an appointment for 10:00. Got called back 11:10 Thanks for being respectful of my time! They took 50 off my bill cool thanks! I will not be returning to H&R Block.

I unfortunately had a very poor experience at the Niles OH H&R Block office. They messed up my Aunt’s taxes (who had been going there and paying peace of mind) and I had to call the treasury to find the correct way to do them. We went to a new tax preparer and now H&R Block is not sure if they will reimburse my aunt for the taxes she has already paid plus the interest. I have been waiting 3 weeks for the tax preparer to get back to me who is waiting on an email from her supervisor. I realize it is the “off” season for them but perhaps hiring additional staff in the office would help because apparently her supervisor is overwhelmed as well if it takes 3 weeks to return an employee email. Not very professional or honest or ethical in their practices. Very much a shame to penalize older people who go there trusting in a professional to do what they are not able to do themselves.
