To preface, I am completely satisfied with the staff here and they have all been friendly and accommodating. I decided to review this branch as it is one of the main branches I use and unfortunately not much seems to get through to corporate's thick skull. I should have made this review forever ago but I used to be satisfied with all of this bank's services. What changed for me was when I was considering consolidation of all my loans into one monthly payment with a lower APR on some loans and maybe a tad higher on others. Overall, it would have helped me considerably and I thought the timing was perfect as 5/3 sent me mail stating I was pre-qualified so I filled out the paperwork and wouldn't you guess it? The geniuses that are called underwriters rejected my loan on the basis that my debt to income ratio would be too high. Yeah, on a consolidation loan. Sure, technically it would temporarily raise my debt when I first aquire the loan but the purpose is to be used to pay off the outstanding debt to consolidate. The most frustrating part is that most of my loans were with 5/3 and not other bank. Also, they sent more letters after the rejection and over two years, I filled out 2 more applications that said I was pre-qualified to get the same rejection letter of my DTI ratio. After that 3rd rejection letter, I got frustrated and paid off one of my loans off in full from money I had in a separate bank account not associated with them. Since then, I refuse to have any savings account or sign any more loans with this bank. I no longer felt taken care of, and not by the people I see face-to-face, but by some mysterious decision makers out in the world somewhere. You know the old saying fool me once? Well apparently fool me thrice and you no longer get to make money off of any interest payments with me or interest in a savings account (which offers abysmal earnings anyways). Hopefully someone higher-up the food chain decides to make changes but unless I'm offered a stellar interest rate, I see no need to ding my credit a 4th time for potentially no results.

Fifth Third has been my go-to bank since high school, thanks to their convenient ATM presence at my university. 🎓💳
Ronna, my banker, has been a lifesaver—always kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Even when I’m distressed, she explains everything in a way that brings peace of mind. 🌟💬 All the tellers are long-time staff, and I always feel welcomed by Roma and the others. 🙏💕
However, my only gripe is with phone support, which is often outsourced to India. While some specialists are helpful, others can be difficult to understand or unprofessional. 😓📞 Thankfully, Ronna and I can usually work around it to find solutions.
This year, I’ve faced credit card debt and overdraft for the first time, and the automated calls from overseas have been a real struggle. The constant harassment feels frustrating and devaluing. 😔💳 especially after being OFFERED to file a cease and desist by my banker. RONNA REMOVED MY PHONE NUMBER FROM THE SYSTEM AND "MITCH" A FEMALE CALL CENTER WORKER STILL BURST THROUGH AND ROBBED ME OF SLEEP I DESPERATELY NEED AND SELDOM FIND WITH MY HEALTY CONDITION.
Despite this, I still recommend Fifth Third, as they’ve always been good to me otherwise! 🙌

Fifth Third has been my personal banking center since I was in high school. My choice to go with them was due to their ATM presence at my university down in Westerville.
For a number of years now I have had a great and respectful relationship with my banker, Ronna. She is always so kind and knowledgeable endeavoring to softly and patiently explain things to me in hushed tones when I am distressed. I ALWAYS leave feeling even the littlest better even when she is not able to help in the moment she is diligent in helping me chart my course toward greater financial stability.
All of the tellers have been there a number of years. Roma is so so sweet, and then pardon my memory but there is also a gentleman and a blonde teller that are always kind and patient with me.
The only detracting remarks I have are not their fault, rather indistry standard. Much if not all of the phone accessible assistance is brokered to India so often the persons helping me are difficult to understand at best and just flat unhelpful and unprofessional at worst. At times, even Ronna has been known to save our time in hanging up and re-rolling for more knowledgeable specialists on the other side of the world. Gives me peace of mind in knowing I am not alone in my frustrations on that front.
This is the first year I have ever fallen into credit card debt and overdraft.. the subtly threatening automated calls from the other side of the world attempting to compell my UNEMPLOYED self to pay my debts more swiftly fill me with dread and slugging through their confusion and broken English to navigate so frequently.
I hear other people have horror stories with other banks and am glad I've stuck with em. Do recommend.

4 out of 5 of our last check deposits have had a 10 business day hold placed. This is unreasonable and excessive considering most banks will clear checks in 1-3 days. The account is NOT new. Online customer service can’t tell me why these holds are placed and that they are “random”. Randomly 4 out of 5 I guess. Branch tells me another story. We’ve stopped using 5/3 in the past couple months because of this issue. If citizens ATM would have been working we wouldn’t have even deposited this check with them. So much for 5/3 better, it’s more like a 5/3 harder waiting and chasing down your money. I even offered to deposit enough cash to cover the check today so the hold can be released.

Thanks to 5/3 for taking excellent care of my money. The "bad" reviews are mostly issues that are all the same with most banks so no reasons to complain.

I just went to this bank for the first time and they were honestly the nicest people I've ever encountered at a bank. They offered to switch my account so I didn't have to pay a service fee. And the guy helping me told me happy early birthday and let me know that my license is about to expire. 12/10 y'all are the best.

After 17 yrs with 5/3rd bank, they put up several road blocks to our mortgage process. 3 days before the closing on our house, the loan officer informed us we would not be getting approval on the loan. When my wife called to ask why, she was verbally abused by the Sales Manager, Kenneth Hanna, sitting in his ivory tower. 5/3 bank should fire Ken Hanna and he should enter anger management to deal with his aggressive tactics. He said rude and fowl things to my wife on the phone. Mr. Hanna also told her that we would never get a mortgage from any bank. You can put anything you like on a website about being service oriented and customer driven, that doesn't make it true. Actions speak louder than words. He is obviously a little man who acts like a big shot at his job and enjoys belittling women. But, at home "at night, his fat and psychopathic wife would thrash him within inches of his life". After 17 yrs of with 5/3rd bank, we moved on to a service oriented bank and yes we did get a the mortgage with Huntington Bank in 30 days of application. If I could, I would give them zero stars. We have always had a good relationship with our local branch and this is not a rail against them at all. I am just expressing our story.

Rude customer service. If they need something turned in they need it now! Never had any good service with them. Pushy mortgage bankers, their opinions are law or your useless to them. Very unprofessional.
