Sandy Ridge Reservation is a beautiful, clean, and well-kept park for walking. The trails are lightly graveled, wide, peaceful, and pleasant, going through the woods and around a pond. The area is open and beautiful with plenty of benches to rest. It is among the best bird and wildlife reservations in the area, where visitors can see many beautiful birds like egrets, blue herons, robins, ducks, red-winged blackbirds, swallows, and a pileated woodpecker. Wildlife includes squirrels, chipmunks, turtles, frogs, and raccoons. The park features a marsh trail, a bridge near the parking lot, and a lake with a gravel walkway encircling it. There is a small playground near the parking lot and bathrooms. The indoor restrooms are very clean, well-kept, functional, and wheelchair accessible. A picnic area offers lots of tables and shade. The park also serves as a fantastic and beautiful venue for events. Note that fishing is not allowed and dogs are not permitted on the main trail, though there is a separate dog trail. The park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset year-round.
Great place for nature lovers and wildlife photography. Large area with diverse habitats. Lots of opportunity for long walks. Got my first Bald Eagle photos here.

Love walking around the marsh trail and scoping all the egrets and blue herons along the way! Only negative is the dog trail is the only place my pup and I have picked up ticks and I’ve heard stories of children picking up ticks on the playground as well.
