Originally from Ottawa I visited for two weeks. The first two places I stoped was Kohl's for filled sticks and Tony's for a crunch cone. You can't get a good long john (filled stick) with MAPLE FROSTING in Florida anywhere. They don't seem to understand some of us don't like chocolate.

I stopped by here on a whim. I live a half hour away, and was in town for work and was stopping in to grab something from the deli for lunch. I walk in, and am immediately greeted by an employee. Two minutes later, another employee says hi. I think every employee there said hi to me. I was pretty shocked by the nice and attentive employees. You don't get that in a box grocery store. I decided to pick up some groceries, as I wanted to support this small, family run grocery store. I love how their prices are stamped on with a price gun, and the cashiers manually key in each item. I picked up some of their own Kohl's brand canned chicken, I bet it's delicious. When I checked out, the cashier unloaded my cart, a man bagged my groceries (in paper, with handles!!) and BROUGHT it to my car to unload it! I was so shocked, I tipped the man. I can't remember the last time someone brought groceries to my car. This is the type of business we all should be supporting. This level of service and quality I thought was long forgotten. At Kohl's, it is not.

It's hard for me to separate my nostalgia to write an objective review. There's something about a place that does not have bar code scanners, brings groceries to your car, and has 'funny' grocery carts that just has a place in my heart. Yes, there's a limited selection, but the staff will do what they can to help; there's also a pretty awesome meat counter and bakery, and greenhouse/landscaping supplies. This is always the first place I go when venturing out in Putnam County-have to support the local business if you want it there. The quality of their meet and baked goods is top notch and all the high school kids that work there are usually pretty helpful too.

When I head out to grocery shop, I stop here first. This is the grocery store I learned to shop in. And after being gone for awhile (I won't say for how long), I'm happy to report that this store still is a great place to shop. Yes it is a small town grocery store that has a limited selection of overall goods, but when it comes their meat counter, it is awesome! I have given up shopping for beef, pork, and hamburger at Walmart (one of the few other choices in Ottawa) and I like the quality and price at Kohl's (IMHO). Their produce is also better and a lot more local when available. I'm not one to drive 20-30 miles to Lima or Findlay for groceries, so Kohls is my first stop.
