I had an awful landlord who tried to evict me due to my ESA and I contacted Michelle and she helped me be able to stay in my condo. My landlord was reported for not keeping my condo up to code and was forced to fix it all. I am so grateful for Michelle for helping me and not making me homeless with my dog. If you need anything please give them a call and they will help. Thanks again.

I got layed off work and i receive unemployment. I applied in March 2024 for rent assistance. They said i didn't qualify because my hardship happened before I moved in, because I appealed it and lost i couldn't reapply until July 2024. I reapplied in July stating I know have temporary custody of neice and nephew and I still receive unemployment. They stated the couldn't help because I don't have a job. I am now employed but still behind on rent so I re applied. Now they're stating my bank statements are showing more money than actual deposit. I have netspend prepaid bank statements. Every time I move money from checking to savings or vice versa it's adding to my balance which I know doesn't make any sense. I've reached out to my bank and they sent me verification on what was actually deposited. I sent that info to fair housing and now I'm waiting for a response on their decision. I will keep Google review updated on their final decision. This entire process is starting to feel like a personal attack instead of a professional organization wanting to help qualified recipients who need help with rent in Painesville Ohio.
Update: Well because they read my bank statements wrong, which made the initial application process longer my landlord decided not to accept their services. Now I am being evicted with no place to go and an eviction on my record. It's sad that they say they help the less fortunate but they look for every reason not to as if the $ is coming out of their own pockets. Such a cruel world we live in.

Very poor communication. I have left 17 messages with the secretary because for month the person (Diana) I needed was not available in office. Today I receive a voicemail about a third attempt to reach me and that my application will be removed. There has to be a communication barrier because the secretary is not relaying messages. I’ve even tried reaching out to a supervisor. The only person ever available is the secretary. I don’t think it’s fair to penalize people in need when I’ve called multiple times a day weekly or sometimes daily just to be told I can leave another message (that no one will answer)

My opinion with fair housing. When you call there and you ask to make an appointment. And they ignore what you say, you ask it again. They ignore it again. All I wanted was an appointment so I could come in and talk she wouldn't listen to a word I said. So I got loud. If you're gonna yell at me, I'll hang up on you. Is what she said. I said don't worry about it I'll talk to somebody else.That is unprofessional, in my opinion. I won't deal with them ever again. This is not the first time I had issues with fair housing last year. They never returned my phone calls. They never returned the phone call of my neighbor they don't care about low income people that is proof. If she really cared to know what I wanted to ask , she would have made that appointment in my opinion. I do know this I feel like Brentwood Apartments do people wrong in a lot of ways. This is the country, not city. There's no reason why turtles rabbits gerbils are prohibited in the Apartments a dog, a cat and a bird do more damage inside of your Apartment than those that are in a cage and aquarium. There's many other reasons and issues. But it's not worth going into. I know what I gotta do I just probably i'm gonna be stuck where I don't wanna be for another year. Feels like a prison without the bars.

THIS PLACE IS NOT FAIR. THEY LIE, COULD CARE LESS ... THEY DON'T HELP ANYONE. THEY TOLD ME IT'S PERFECTLY LEGAL FOR LANDLORDS TO STEAL UTILITIES FROM THEIR TENANTS WHICH IS NOT TRUE. THEY ARE LAZY AND INCOMPETENT AND KEEPING GRANT $$$ FOR THEMSELVES

This company has always been a great help to family in need, until we had Patricia Kidd dealing with our application, she denied me rental assistance and didn’t tell me why. Also in our emails she told me after I sent over all the documents she needed she was going to reach out to my landlord, that never happened and I never received any response about my appeal. I’m really sad this is supposed to be a fair housing Resource Center and I was left to get evicted with my newborn and two other kids while going through a hardship and inflation.
