We adopted our cat Tigger over a year ago and he is the best thing we ever did! The adoption process went very smoothly and the volunteers are so nice! I would recommend adopting from there if anyone is looking for a welcome addition to their family!

PARMA ANIMAL SHELTER is one shelter I will never walk into again. They are RUDE and lack compassion for their animals and the people who wish to adopt. Just like the other reviews mentioned, they play favorites. They will tell you to drive a two hour round trip drive to come see a pet. Once you get there they will walk you back to the pet to let you see it. Once they see you fell in love with the animal they will then tell you the animal has been pending adoption all week. Why would you do something that heartless? Did you enjoy hurting someone like that? Are you that sad and pathetic? These people are inhumane, miserable and unhappy and they are depriving animals of good homes.GO ANYWHERE, BUT HERE! They enjoy hurting people. Most of the volunteers do not even know each others names, nor do they know the animals names. They know little to nothing about the animals. They stand around GOSSIPING about people who come in wanting to adopt pets. I heard it myself.PARMA ANIMAL HOSPITAL,Instead of standing around talking badly and gossiping about the people who come in planning to adopt, why Try to educate each other instead. Be good to people. Stop trying to hurt potential adopters, because you are hurting the animals. This is a terrible place. I wouldn’t give this place one CENT donation, or support. If I were the owner I would FIRE every single person who works here and replace them. I do know they recently found a few pets that were lost and belonged to a home and SOLD them within a 2 day time frame. Those animals belonged to somebody’s home they ran away from and you sold them with no empathy. Shame on you!I wouldn’t give this place a penny support. They gossip, they judge and they deny applications, because deep down in their miserable little souls, they are unhappy people.Stop hugging people then turn around and gossip about them and the suffering they’ve been through. Those poor animals are being deprived. Someone needs to rescue them from this shelter. ASAP! Does the owner know what’s going on here? Maybe we need to contact the attorney general for their unethical business practice.

Was sent here from brookpark for an emergency surrender for a cat. Animal warden was outside and at first refused to speak with me. Then when I tried to talk to two volunteers walking out she approached in her vehicle and asked what I wanted. I told her about the emergency situation and she rolled her eyes and said well bring it back at 5 and we will euthanize it. I hope this woman reads this and knows how horrible of a person she is for acting like this. I know it is hard on shelters but you need to be professional when speaking with people especially those seeking your help.

Terrible application process, a disgusting process of favoritism, poorly taken care of facility, rude staff, etc. I can't believe there is a decent amount of good reviews for this place. Must be bought or the owners fake accounts. This place is terrible, they don't care about cats been stuck in cages when there's great opportunities for them to be adopted by someone great. Can't wait till karma hits them, you get what you give.

Terrible application process, some staff was very rude, poorly taken care of facility. Absolutely terrible. I have no idea why there's a decent amount of good reviews on here. I'm sure some are from the owners or bots. They denied my application bc I said I'm not OPPOSED to outdoor cats to be flexible. They have a policy that only allows indoor cats. Yet they didn't inform me of this, in fact they said sometimes they have stray cats! What a joke. Can't wait till karma hits the owners for mistreating their animals, I probably would've adopted a beautiful kitten but this place doesn't want that. They want them in a cage at all cost. TERRIBLE.

It is so sad that this place denied someone who was very willing to adopt a kitten. The questions on the application are worded confusingly and with the amount of pets that are abandoned and in need of a good home, I would think they would jump to find their animals a wonderful home. Maybe Parma Animal Shelter should take the time needed to save each and every animal. Bad Business; I would suggest Berea Animal Shelter.

Good Morning to our family at the PAS!! We are sooooo happy!!!!! We explored our new home for HOURS last night and we follow our new Mom and Dad "everywhere" they go!! We are not scared or nervous at all!!! When they call us (our new names are Angelique and Barnabas) they LOVE it and we go flying to them and they laugh! We slept with Mom last night and she put a chair next to the bed so we didn't have to do big jumps up and down. Mom and Dad love hugs and kisses as much as we do!! They let us go wherever we want too!! Sooooo...We decided to let Mom and Dad live here with us too! Hope you like our pics!! Love, Angelique and Barnabas (aka: Dawn and Dusk) THANK you!

Very lovely shelter and sweet staff. They took in a homeless beautiful kitten I found that they named Rusty. I am forever grateful and pray he is adopted by a loving person/family. May God keep you safe Rusty.

The staff was unprofessional and rude the minute we walked in the shelter. There is NO excuse for rudeness due to your “policies.” The policy does not upset me, the staff does. I came in with 2 of my friends. We are all college students that live in either big apartments or commute FROM HOME. The volunteer asked, “Are you guys college students?” and proceeded to say that they do not let college students adopt. She knew nothing about us, if we lived at home or not, etc. Most staff were dismissive and rude from the start. We were not allowed to hold an animal unless an application was approved. If that is the case, it is an easy solution to let those searching for pets know PRIOR to them coming into the back of the shelter to see the pets. Staff was not helpful and dismissive. We stood right in front of a volunteer before we looked at dogs and they didn’t even make eye contact with us. They walked away without saying a word and I needed to speak up to ask for what we wanted to see. Avoid this place.

Beware of Nancy. She can be disrespectfuland she was mean and not friendly. I was holding a kitten named Lissa for 20 minutes and decided to get this one. She took it from my hands and said other parents are looking to adopt a feline at this time and we haven't looked at your application yet to decide whether if you were approved yet. I never was treated like this before.. I usually get approved on the spot. DONT GO HERE!! She ignored me the minute I stepped in and said Lissa is my only choice to choose from.

What a wonderful group of volunteers. We spoke with several people about the cat that we wanted to adopt. Everyone was so helpful. To make your visit easier, complete the on-line application first. The hardest part is waiting. Give it a couple days for the approval email. THEN go to the shelter. I made the mistake of going before I received the approval email and of course I fell in love with an older cat and so did my husband. Truly, the worst part is the wait but remember you are changing the life of a pet. Anything that is this good is definitely worth the wait.Thank you to Kim and all the volunteers.I am looking forward to your fundraising events.

If you lost your animal and are looking for it do not even waste your time here. The people that work here accuse you from the very second you walk in the door of trying to "shop" for their animals. They are not welcoming in the least bit and treated me as if I was there to lie to them when I have several pictures of my cat and filled out a list pet report. Three months later they call me back saying they have a cat that possibly fits the description of my cat. I went back up there and even though I played the message that THEY HAD LEFT ON MY VOICEMAIL, I received the same treatment as if I was a burden to them. They were of absolutely zero help whatsoever. Thanks for nothing and get off your high horse Parma animal shelter. You are not helping anyone with your horrible attitudes.

Absolutely unprofessional and terrible customer service! Do not support this business and just go elsewhere. A disgusting display of favoritism and unnecessary demands within an overly complicated adoption process. I wanted to adopt a husky and my parents have already visited the shelter last Sunday to see the dog. We were very interested but were told that we had to make an appointment. That's not a big deal. We call today and try to schedule one but are told the dog has been adopted by someone who just filled out an adoption application. What happened to first come, first serve? You knew we wanted the dog but instead, you picked favorites and undermined our interest. Not to mention, the staff was extremely rude and stand-offish for no good reason. The impression I got from this dump is that they never wanted us to adopt the dog that we loved in the first place. I am extremely disappointed and have never had a bad experience like this at other shelters. I'll state it again. DON'T GO HERE!
