Beautiful place. Didn't stay as it's out in the middle of nowhere.

Stayed mid week with my wife before Christmas. The place a fairly empty. That's kind of nice; however, that means they cut back on services. When we checked in, we found out that Boxer's was going to be closed but the dining room would be able to make anything that was available in the lounge. That'll work until it doesn't. There was only one server in the dining room for each service. The first day it worked out okay, the second, not so much. Our room update was nearly complete. Seemed we were missing the balcony sheer curtain. The lodge was clean and well kept even though there were still workers there daily. We understand there will be closed from one February until mid May. Hopefully will be able to get in there before and after for comparisons, before we leave Ohio.

I've been here every year for like 15 years, part of a family group that meets every Christmas. The rooms etc are fine. I am giving a low rating only because they insisted on installing a ton of claw machine type games or similar both in the little game room upstairs and in an area downstairs. They are shining beacons of annoyance for parents. While I understand its completely in my control to limit play, these games are still very alluring and it amounts to gambling for children.I'm guessing some outside company has a contract letting them place the machines there. Mohican Lodge should get rid of them, and just buy some arcade machines outright, then charge a quarter a play for them, until they are paid off. Then I would make them free or even cheaper frankly. Have some real fun games, which is a nice addition when hanging out inside for a bit between activites etc. Or just get rid of them all completely and actually invest in a decent ping pong table and other indoor activites. Either way. teaching kids to gamble and trying to steal their money with these stupid claw games is obnoxious. Not everything everywhere has to be profit seeking.

The lodge was beautiful this cool fall weekend. The trees were at their peak for color, & there were rockers by the windows for a great view of the lake. I loved the gift shop, & the hiking trails were really nice.Walkability: My husband enjoyed the more challenging trails, but I managed along the river below the covered bridge with my 2 walking sticks.

Update 10/26: Laura, the general manager, emailed me with a sincere apology for the front desk clerk's poor service. She refunded me 50% of our stay back to my credit card. Laura acknowledged that it's difficult to get the rooms ready before 4pm when multiple wedding blocks are scheduled and everyone wants to check-in early. I do understand that housekeeping does the best they can.I didn't know the 4pm check-in time would be so strictly enforced. I wouldn't have stayed here if I knew there was no way we could check in until 4pm. We only chose to stay at the lodge because we were attending a wedding at the Mohican Treehouses. The wedding ceremony started at 3pm. When we showed up at 2pm, trying to check-in, first it took a while to get someone at the front desk's attention then we were very unhelpfully told that check-in was at 4pm. When I asked if there were any other options, and explained we were here for a wedding at 3pm, she just shrugged. Like not her problem. I ended up getting ready for the wedding in the lobby bathroom. We checked in to the lodge after the wedding, at 11:30pm. I just thought there would be a little flexibility, kindness, and accommodation from the staff - not just a "it is what it is" response.

My friend and I love the Pizza at Boxers Lounge so when we were out that way we stopped in to pick one up. It was a busy Saturday night for all with at least 2 wedding parties and more. Jimmy was the one making the pizzas and drinks. He was awesome, friendly, welcoming and made an amazing pizza! Thanks Jimmy!!Food & drinks: Food and drinks are always so tasty there!

I am local and usually enjoy going to Mohican Conference Center for dinner and drinks. I have had family dinners at Bromfield’s Table and introduced many friends to Boxer’s Lounge and dining on the patio. Last night I was excited to share with my friends from Akron while they were here for a visit. It was horrible! Upon entering Boxer’s and going to the bar to order the bartender asked us to move from the area by the register because he had to prepare a drink order for the restaurant. We sat at a table and waited. As we waited more people came in so I went up to the bar to wait my turn. No interaction. The bartender said there were servers at the tables on the patio and he didn’t want to discourage anyone from eating in the bar but it may be faster if people went out to the tables. My group went out the door he motioned to and sat at a table. There were two tables that still had menus and hadn’t ordered so we sat admiring the view of the sunset and waited. After almost ten minutes we asked the server for menus. She told us that we had to check-in at the front of Bromfield’s. I went into Bromfield’s to check in and was told by the manager that they weren’t currently seating anyone because the kitchen was backed up 45 minutes. I went to the bar and asked if they were still taking food orders from the bar menus and he said yes and when I told him that the restaurant wasn’t he went and asked the restaurant. He came back and told me that he could make pizza but nothing else on the bar menu. I went and got my friend to put in our pizza orders. Came back and he took our orders and was rude and snarky to my friend correcting her grammar. She said can I have a Jack and Diet, thank you and he said Please? He kept it up to the point that she complained to me while he was making our drinks and he said “lady I have a mirror I can see you”. Thought it was rude and probably just his personality so whatever. While he was making our drinks he took the order of the group that had originally walked in behind us about thirty minutes earlier. They ordered from the restaurant menu and said they didn’t care how long it took they were there to mostly drink. We went out to our table to wait for our pizzas. Everyone around us that ordered after us on the patio from the restaurant was served before we got our pizza. After 30 minutes I went in to get our pizzas which were just coming out of the oven and the table inside that had ordered from the restaurant menu had already received their sandwiches and fries. Why were we told that we couldn’t be seated or order from full menu because it would be at least an hour but three tables that ordered after us all received their food in less than 30 minutes? I was very disappointed in the lack of communication as well as the tone of the bartender and manager. I will no longer be willing to pay the premium for the location as the menu is priced higher because it’s a hotel, I will go to other local establishments where the same drinks aren’t $12. I’m disappointed that what was my favorite place to go has become so poorly managed.
