My experience was very bad at this dollar general, don’t go. First i go in to buy candy and a lighter the cashier lady tells me i need an id to buy a lighter so i go out to the car and get my boyfriend who is 18 years of age and he goes in to show her the id then she proceeds to say you need to be 21 years old after she told me i need to be 18 years old to buy a lighter when the law clearly states you can buy a lighter at 18 years old then we tell her that that’s what the law states and she says “you need to be 21 years old because a lighter is a TABBACO ITEM” and that we can’t buy a lighter because it’s “DOLLAR GENERALS RULE” So then we proceed to ask for a manager and they say they don’t have a manager???? So then we ask for their name and we get called a child and to grow up when we were being polite the whole time. SECOND, I also go to get my items and check out every day I go there it’s the same woman and I genuinely believe that she is on hard drugs. teeth missing, and bald spots. Every time she’s checking people out she is talking to other staff in the middle of it, taking breaks every time she scans two items. Unhealthy amounts of fat, can’t walk, rude to customers and can’t do her job right. This store needs all new hires staff the current staff aren’t doing very well of a job if I could I would put 0 stars. Never going there again.

Umm this place is a mess. The only thing good was the young employee was very nice and friendly. It seems to need better management. It was so unorganized, cluttered and a mess.

I don't always go to the Shelby dollar general but when I do I make sure I'm waiting in line for 25 minutes while the slow cashiers tell their life stories...
