Was told over the phone that they accept manual EBT entry (giving the number without having the actual card), and that did not align with what happened in store

Marcs was great this week as I went on the 30th. All the EBTers were sidelined til the next day so I got in and out.

Have had several bad items from this store that I just throw out, but the latest really rubbed me the wrong way. My wife went to make 3.5lbs of chicken breast we bought, today is the 7/8/25, the “sell by date” is 7/12/25, should be good, right? No. She opened it and it smelled so bad she almost threw up. -We wondered why there was a stink in the fridge, but didn’t think that was the culprit and didn’t investigate just yet. So, I figured on my way home from work, I could stop and show them a picture of the chicken, along with the “good by date” and thought they could look up my card for receipt if needed. They would not, and TODD the manager would not even come to the desk. He told the cashier on the phone either they need the paper receipt, or the rancid chicken OR I could call corporate and get a proof of purchase faxed from my credit card. SERIOUSLY? It’s 2025, you guys can’t look up my transaction like every other store in this country? You think I’m over here committing chicken fraud?? You want to have such an item brought back into your store??? Out of spite I dug the chicken out of the trash, quadruple bagged it, it still smells more than I can tolerate in my car to drive back to the store, let alone the time and hassle of this, and not having meat for dinner. Half of me wants to suffer through the trip and dump it out across their counter. But my sense came to and I’m just writing this review instead. Oh, YOU SUCK, Todd. I will never set foot into this poorly managed store again.

I absolutely hate how cramped this store is! And yet there are only ever 2 or 3 checkout lanes open and then. If you're not gonna station people at those lanes get rid of them so that there's more room in the store!!!😡😡😡

Marks always have the basics at great prices. Marks also have some very interesting close out items.

Marc's is Marc's. Depends on whose working how long the lines will be to check out.
We love the break we get on select items (like produce), and many of their specials.
I may sound like I'm not discerning, but I can't tell the difference in quality between the meats sold here and other grocery stores.
The store is clean and most items on sale are available when I shop. Staff is cordial to friendly, and I usually shop once a week.

They could easily get four or five stars if they wouldn't make the people at the cash register stand all day and give them a chair.
Customers feel guilty to see the people at their register standing.

They really need to do a better job with who they assign to run the register. There is no way it should take 20 mins to ring one person out with 12 items, and I bagged my own items! . I understand the elderly still want or need to work, and I thank Marc’s for still employing them. However when it comes to customer service you should be placing the employee where they will most productive.
