Hard to connect with on the phone at first, but they returned call. Easy questionaire online. Great young men. They don't waste any time getting to work and stay busy the entire time. The only scratched item I had was small abrasions on the top of my dresser. A thin layer of felt on their hand truck/dolly would alleviate that. My antiques were fine. Nothing broken.

We had used Family First for our moves 18 years ago and were highly satisfied with their service. We used them in October 2021 and were so dissatisfied with their service. We moved from a 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment. Most of our stuff was put into storage. The move was supposed to take 1 day, but their second truck broke down and move took 2 days. A table my father had made was broken during the move as well as my son's bed. Everything is packed so tight in the storage units that we can't find the boxes and items that were supposed to go to the apartment. There were boxes that were supposed to go into storage that were in the apartment so nothing was really followed and just done quickly and carelessly. The final price was FOUR TIMES the original estimate we were given, proably because the move had to be done over 2 days. There was no real price break or apologies for the move taking so long. We will never use Family First again and do not recommend them.

I wish I could give 0 stars! The owner Jamie is the rudest, most unprofessional, mean person I have ever dealt with. He shows up out of nowhere and starts yelling that certain items were “not on our list” and saying the movers aren’t moving that. They moved a little over half of our 3 bedroom house (with 2 less than half filled trucks) and then he wanted to charge an astronomical amount after inflating the time by double and adding charges for items that they DIDN’T MOVE! When I disputed the unbelievable amount he said we owed, he told the movers to stop unloading and close the hatch. He was going to leave with our stuff! We had no choice but to pay what he demanded because he was holding our belongs hostage. I have NEVER had such a horrible experience with a business before! NEVER in my 46 years of life! Stay away from this company!Service: Local moving

If I could give 0 stars I would. The owner walked right into the house and was instantly being rude, mean, angry, etc. He didn’t move half of the items that were listed and he wanted to charge way above the price listed. The pricing made 0 sense. He was charging for heavy items they didn’t even move!!! Our family members were crying from stress and all he did was continue to being mean and angry. Not christian. Horrible company. Do not give these people your money.

We hired Family First Moving to move our 3 bedroom house 7 mins away to our new house. They were supposed to show up at 9am but called at 9:30 and said they wouldn't be there until after 10. The owner called the night before asking if we wanted a 3rd mover for an extra $40 an hour, we agreed thinking it would save on time. Once they arrived, the driver CJ was very kind and hard working, along with one of the other movers. The 3rd mover acted like he had better places to be. They were all very kind but they were not professional movers by any means. They carried boxes one at a time causing the process to take longer then it should. One they got the truck filled with half our house and decided we would need a 2nd trip we went to the new house. Upon arrivel, we asked that they place down drop clothes bc we had our floors professionally cleaned the day before. The movers stated they did not have these and called their boss/owner Jamie. He spoke to my mother in law, who was paying for their services, she asked what could be done and his response was "nothing". He refused to even come up with a solution and when it was made known that we were not happy he stated he would mover our stuff back to the old house, and said for us not to pay. Then changed his mind and threatened us with court. What kind of professional moving company doesn't have drop clothes or be willing to come up with a solution. Definitely not a Christian company like they like to advertise. We ended up having to have them drop it in the drive way and renting a uhaul to finish the job ourself. Do your self a favor and pay the more expensive company bc in the end it's worth. One a side note, 2 other companies came the same day and when asked to wear booties they had no problem!Service: Local moving

First of all, this complaint is about the owner of the company, NOT the movers. I hired Family First to move my son and daughter-in law from a 3 bedroom house move to another 3 bedroom house in the same town. Quoted $130/hr ($123 if paying cash) for 2 men for 6 hours. They called the night before offering a 3rd mover for $170/hr. Thinking that would reduce the overall hours, we agreed. They arrived at 10am. We had everything easily accessible and nicely stacked. They were only able to get half of the house loaded in 2 hours. They drove to the new house and started to unload. As they came to the door with the first item, I asked them if they had shoe covers or drop cloths, because we just spent $600 getting the carpet and tile cleaned the day before. They said they didn't and were going to call their boss. The owner Jamie, wanted to speak to me. I am appalled by the conversation I had with this man. He asked me what the problem was, so I told him. He said they were never asked to bring shoe covers and have only ever worn them twice in the past during snowy weather. I said I never thought that would need to be specifically requested and asked him what they were going to do about it, thinking they could go get some. His reply was, "WE ARE GOING TO DO NOTHING."I was so taken aback that I thought he must have been kidding. He repeated himself and asked me if I'm the one paying them. When I said yes, he said, THEN DON'T." I was so confused at this point. He said they would take everything back to the other house. I was in complete shock about the way this simple request was being handled, that I told him to do that. After discussing it with his movers, he wanted to speak to me again. He said he wanted paid in cash right then or he would see me in court. I asked if they were a Christian company and he said, "SO, YOU'RE CALLING MY FAITH INTO QUESTION?" He then proceeded to tell me how they donate their time to veterans. I'm not sure what that has to do with how he's conducting his business right now.For the sake of sanity, we decided to have them unload the truck in the driveway and pay them for time worked. The movers were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and understanding. They hustled and were very apologetic. We paid $490 for 3 hours plus gas fee. We tipped the 3 movers $20 each.Bottom line: I have never been treated so poorly by a business owner. It's very upsetting that this is how they choose to represent their Christian values. Jesus should not have his perfect name associated with this company.

Very awful experience. These are not professionals and they showed up in a Uhaul truck. Half way into the move, the ramp on the uhaul came completely off track and they did not know how to repair it. They shattered our glass dining table, tore holes in our leather furniture and moved at a very slow pace. I do not recommend them at all. After speaking with their supervisor, I realized where the employees learned their lack of professionalism.... Read More

Okay, I’m gonna keep it real. Family first is messy and unorganized. I moved down to Akron and worked here for about 2 months. Most of the workers are chill and the pay was good. Jamie the owner, is really what makes the company TERRIBLE. He is an alcoholic and most of the time is drunk when on the phone with customers. He still owes me a check from the last couple weeks I worked for him. If you’re an African American like myself, GOOD LUCK. He will tell you that the truck will leave at 9:00am sharp and that the truck(s) will be there no later than 9:30am (or however long it takes to get to the destination), and there were multiple times where we didn’t leave until 9:30/9:45 and it costed customers a lot of extra money because of this. He doesn’t take care of his trucks, one time we had to drive all the way back to the shop in the moving truck with no headlights or good brakes from Mantua, and another time, one broke down on the way to a customers home. He pays his workers by leaving checks in either the mailbox at the shop or he has them pick them up in his old convertible at his residence. There were also many times where I’ve heard Jamie cuss out customers over the phone while drunk when they try too tell him the issues they’ve had throughout their moving day. Some of the movers are either too old or just lazy or inexperienced. Sometimes there’s damage done to items/houses because movers are not careful. If you try to tell Jamie that you are unhappy about anything as a customer OR employee, he will disrespect you, cuss you out and tell you that you’re wrong, which is HORRIBLE customer service. I can literally start a moving company tomorrow and it would go a hell of a lot better than whatever is going on at family first moving, or should I call it “Jamie First Moving”. I wish I could post the screenshot of our text messages so everyone can see how terrible this company is. If you are looking for a quality moving company who actually cares about you and your personal items, DONT go to family first. I’m currently in the process of suing the company for the money I am owed. You’re better of renting a Uhaul and grabbing 4 guys off of craigslist.

After looking threw some of the reviews, I was hesitant about using this company, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The men worked fast, and they were very accommodating. The office lady was one of the nicest and most respectful lady I have ever seen. I have no regrets with this company and I would advise it to anyone!

This Moving Business is one of a kind! I used them last Friday and they were extremely efficient. Rece and Taet did a great job. I would 100% use this company again.
