The worst YMCA I have ever been a member of. Not only were their staff unknowledgeable, I found the whole atmosphere very judgmental, un-Christian, and not family friendly. The Huber Heights YMCA is considerably better. I will confess I have been spoiled from being members at some of the very best YMCA facilities in the entire country: Andover, Kansas and Norton Commons in Louisville, KY. So I guess you could say that my expectations are high. But I can't understate my disappointment with the Miami County YMCA. I tried to get my kids into day camp and was given wrong information and nobody was able to get the answers until it was too late. If they were smart they would make themselves part of the Greater Dayton YMCA so people could benefit from the other facilities. But, as they have clearly demonstrated, they know "better" and do their own thing without making the changes that will benefit the people of the community.

I am not normally one to review anything, but I am feeling very let down by this part of our community. I am extremely disappointed in the swim lessons at the Troy YMCA. My daughter has been in a session earlier this year and now has started her second session. At almost every class, the lifeguards are not paying attention. I do understand that it's a class, and there is an instructor and (hopefully) parents watching. However, my daughter is in a preschool class so children aged 3-5. So the children probably do tend to have more accidents in the water than older children, so I am expecting the lifeguards (along with the instructor and parents of the class) to be ready to help save a child. Within tonight's 30 min class, two children fell in the water, and were under the water. These toddlers do not know how to swim. Neither the lifeguards NOR the instructor knew the child fell in. Each time, an extremely pregnant parent jumped to grab both children on separate occasions. During previous classes, I have seen lifeguards reading and even on a laptop.
My daughters previous session was taught by Ms. Erin who we adored. She was fantastic with the children and made certain the kids knew what to do to be safe in the water.
My daughters class now is being taught by an older lady, which is absolutely appropriate as long as they are also ensuring safety of the class. However, within 30 mins two children fell in without any knowledge of the teacher. I hope this class shows improvement quickly, because currently I am not comfortable leaving my daughter with the lifeguards or the instructor.

I have been a member for 7 months. I primarily use the treadmill. At first I asked for instruction in the weight room. Tracy showed me I think 6 machines. I would like to know them all and I thought that she would show all. I tried one work out group but was told I am not eligible because I do not belong to Silver Sneakers. This is because I am a veteran I was told. How embarrassing. I then went to another class, I got dizzy and could not keep up. The instructor was very nice, however, very embarrassed to the point of tears again. I do not feel welcome here and will be opting out at my first opportunity.

Went to go in the pool very early since my husband went. They have free weights and machines and a walking track. I think they had the treadmills, too, but didn't look to see if they still did.

I really enjoy this place and all of the amenities that they have to offer and the reason I gave them three out of five stars is because there are a lot of problems and repairs that seem to be a constant issue
