Good location. Pool is very nice. The problem I have right now is the weight room is too crowded, almost claustrophobic. The free weights are located in between the cardio and the machines, so you get this concentration of people in a very small area that makes it difficult to work out.

I cannot say enough good things about the Green Y. My twins are enrolled in the prek program and have thrived! The Lead Teachers are clearly well educated and know what they are doing and are so responsive to my kids needs both academic and social-emotional. The Assistant Teachers all know my kids and interact with them and my kids are clearly comfortable with whoever is in the room, I can tell that they feel “at home” when I drop them off. I love that their enrollment includes a membership for our family (we are a family of 8, so it’s an amazing deal) that we can all enjoy, and the twins get swim lessons included in the curriculum several times a week! We have really enjoyed getting to bring the whole family in to swim on the weekends for “family swim” and watching the twins show off all they have learned in lessons during the week. The program director is always understanding and willing to work with us (within reason). The staff at the Green Y is truly top tier and you can tell when you walk in that their main concern is the safety of the kids, the relationships they form with the kids and families, and making sure the kids are learning and having fun. I recommend the Y to everyone who asks about preschool because it’s just been phenomenal. I can’t wait to see how awesome my kids do in kindergarten thanks to the superior education they have gotten at the Y.

My son has attended the preschool program for 2 years now and we've had a great experience; I would highly recommend it! The teachers are amazing, and the education/social aspect of the program has been very beneficial for his growth and development. The program director, Cara, is wonderful to work with and has been extremely flexible with our family's needs. The preschool program also provides swim lessons and I find that to be a great benefit that you don't get with most preschool programs. We love our membership with the Y and are so thankful for everyone there!

The Green YMCA is a great gym environment that is also affordable. It has lots of strength training and cardio equipment, so we've not had to wait to use and many classes to choose from. Their programs for children are excellent. We used them for preschool and Pre-K. Included with that was a gym membership for the family, swim lessons for the children enrolled as part of their curriculum during the day, great hours of care for working parents, and excellent teachers. Their Summer Day Camp is lots of fun for the kids and they visit lots of places - Akron Zoo, Uhrichsville Water Park, Pump it Up, local parks, the movies, etc. We use their before and after care during the school year as well. My children are always pleased by the fun things they do each day. This is a great place for the whole family.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Please don’t ever send your child to any of the childcare programs. They have incompetent staff. I made the mistake of enrolling my child in summer camp. He has never been to daycare, in an attempt to get him ready for preschool. They will not allow a 3.5 yo to come back after 3 days, because he tries so leave the classroom. They simply told me he can’t come back and had absolutely no helpful alternatives. The childcare programs at this YMCA ARE A JOKE. They don’t care. They don’t try to work with your child to get them ready for preschool or kindergarten, instead they will just not allow your child to come back. I hope they deleted the pictures of my child on their Facebook page like I requested, because they surely didn’t before removing me from the group. Please, please please, if you care about your child and their growth, DO NOT send your child to any of their programs.

My observations: the gym is ample but cramped for the amount of equipment. Equipment is hit/miss, rusty treadmill (#66). Not a lot of floor space for mat exercises. Floor appeared to have had water damage and carpet tiles coming up.Lifeguards are angry and broody. Help at the front desk wasn’t helpful. I’m sure Denise is lovely but could benefit from some soft skills training.

15 year member… Was verbally attacked by a staff member named Victoria today, and she threatened to call the police because I verbally defended myself. Victoria stated she was calling the police because we all know they will be on her side since she’s a white woman and I’m African American. She then went on to add that I am outnumbered… Don’t have any confirmation that she was fired on the spot, as she should have been!
A long term relationship with the Green YMCA has now come to an end today!
There is clearly a need for more African American staff within this facility!!!

Too often building rules are not followed or enforced, specifically safety ones. For example, its nuts the amount of children in the gym playing around with weights they have no idea how to safely use at all hours of the day when its posted when children can and cannot be in there. Also, the basketball court seems to be used too often for anything but basketball. We all pay money. We all deserve to use what we pay for. If someone needs space for something other than basketball build them that or quit taking their money. They dont host yoga classes in the gym. But drill class , zumba, yoga, and many other non basketball things more often than not take up the basketball court. Which is the sole reason a ton of people pay the much higher price for the ymca instead of a regular gym. The in door court. Get it together. Stop falsely advertising a court when its leas than a part time availability for basketball. I pay for 5 people to be a member here. Unacceptable.

Nice pool but lifeguards are way to strict. Couldn't do anything. Kids trying to practice front glides like they learn in swim class but they were getting yelled at for doing it. Just over strict 4 lifeguards to not be able to do anything.

Today on 11/29/23 I was in group exercise class drumming and beats Amy Scott was teaching the class. Amy was dancing in class and told the class to dance like a monkey. It was very racial term by calling me monkey in class. It was very defense racial comment on slay and I have ignored most of some racial comment. I wouldn't go back there even again and I would not recommend other minorities to go into Green Ymca.
