Called seeking shelter from multiple forms of abuse. Lady who answered the phone laughed at me, acted like she didnt believe a word I said, and acted catty with tons of attitude the whole time. Then proceeded to leave me on hold for 15 mins without coming back. Not any way to treat someone who has already been abused to their limits. Save yourself the trauma and do not deal with these terrible ppl!!!

I am incredibly grateful that I was able to work as a mentor for the 2021 Summer Food Program, giving kids a chance to escape their home life and to help them make good memories that will last a lifetime! I truly believe that it takes a town to raise a child, and that is exactly what the YWCA is doing! 5 stars

I never heard of the YWCA, until I moved into Van Wert. It is surprising I haven't, since the organization seems to have been around for over 160 years. I only walked into YWCA because they were part of the 2020 Van Wert Chocolate Walk. After I left the chocolate walk, I looked up the YWCA to find out what it does. According to their website, they are "dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all." That is certainly an ideal we all can agree with. They have a variety of programs from domestic violence programs, as well as victim advocacy programs for survivors of human trafficking and sexual assault. They also seem involved in local scholarships and leadership programs. I think we all can agree that the scourges of domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual assault need to be eliminated from society. Any organization that dedicated itself to help women or any victim of this needs support! Their calendar show they also give self defense classes for women. Moreover they have or are involved in community events. Besides being involved in the chocolate walk, they are currently running a sale for Germaniums for peoples gardens... neat! It's a wonderful organization and if you are in the Van Wert area and need anything like the above, you should definitely give them a call at (419) 238-6639. You can check out their website at: Their Facebook page is:

Unfortunatey the YWCA is no longer going to honor silver sneakers.. also closimg down excersize classes. Guess one needs to join the YMCA. I am quite upset about this, as I prefer smaller size classes

Its a beautiful building. Miss the pool availability. I had a small program i held there and they charged me alot when they should donated the space for the community events i held. They help out "certain ppl". Cuz its run by the "certain "rich" ppl". They only help the other "certain ppl".
