Went through their website to place a pickup for 8.30 this morning. Filled out all my information online including the fact that I am 19. Was willing to pay young driver fee and had full proof of insurance and was still denied pickup due to not being 20. Was never told beforehand and was even told that my young driver fee would be waived because of my Triple A status. Completely threw off our trip and am now delayed for our vacation and completely behind because they couldn’t live up to their agreement. Will never return to hertz. Enterprise has me picking up today as a 19yr old for $30 cheaper!

The worst customer service

If I could give zero stars, I would. This company completely ruined our vacation. We reserved a specific vehicle well in advance — confirmed and paid — only to arrive and be told they didn’t have it. No apology. No explanation. Just shrugged shoulders and a “take it or leave it” attitude.
What kind of business runs like this? The alternative they offered didn’t even fit our group, forcing us to scramble last-minute and spend extra money we hadn’t budgeted for. Their customer service was downright atrocious — rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. They made it very clear they didn’t care about our situation at all.
This is more than an inconvenience — it was a major disruption that threw off our entire trip. Do yourself a favor and rent literally anywhere else. This company is a joke.

The process of getting the rental car was easy and fast. The car is Toyota Camry and is a dream to drive. Will rent from Hertz again.

I had to rent a car for my boss on very short notice. I went to Hertz in Vandalia and dealt with Spencer and his manager. They were both fantastic! They delivered the car to my boss once she signed all of the necessary paperwork, and Spencer even gave her a thorough walk-thru of the car before leaving. I was extremely impressed with the level of customer service and my boss loved the car!

Absolutely don’t rent a car here. Predatory pricing and will lie about when you return your car to get extra money from you. No customer service to refute claims.

Horrible Horribe Horrible experience!!I will NEVER use this location or Hertz for that matter. I have never witnessed anything like this.My cousin used this branch for and insurance rental. She was advised immediately upon return that something resembling "ashes" was found and that she had been smoking in the car. She does not even smoke. She is stage 5 renal failure. It went from saying cigarettes to marijuanain in a matter of minutes. There was no smell, but because she put air freshener in the car, she was told she was trying to "mask" the smell!!! When she pointed out that Cigarettes and Marijuana both have distinctive smell that can't be easily "masked" by air fresheners, she was told "well I have the final say". She was also told General Manager could not be contacted and would give her a call today to discuss. She is Stull waiting for that call. The agent told her that she would not charge her debit card until she was able to speak with the General Manager but literally charged the card as soon as she stepped out of the door. She was so matter of fact that there was smoking. I don't understand how she came to that conclusion without a smell or any evidence other that a small piece of ash that she claimed. Not a pile or several places where the supposedly ash was. Just one tiny spot.Has anyone else experienced some not so ethical things regarding this location?DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE!!!!!

My vehicle was hit outside my apartment. My insurance company hired this company for my rental car. The rental was left at the body shop for me to pick up. I got the car and the tire light was on. I put air in the tire several times over the days that I had the vehicle. The vehicle had some sort of sticky stuff on both interior doors and the console, but they were having trouble finding a vehicle for me that day, and they delivered it to the body shop so I figured they knew the condition of the vehicle. Now, a few weeks after my repairs have been made, I get a call from a recovery place stating that they took their car to the shop and found a nail in the tire and they want me to pay for the tire. If I thought I had damaged the vehicle I would have paid for it. If I thought I ruined their tire, it would have been replaced before I returned the car. I put like 150 miles on the car in 9 days I had it, and several of those miles was to put air in it. They ask did I let them know? I picked the car up at the body shop with a receipt the size of a Mcdonald's receipt that I couldn't read if I wanted to, and the keys had a tag for emergency roadside service. The body shop had to show me how to start the car. I didn't consider a slow leak an emergency so no, I didn't call them. I have called State Farm to complain though since they are who hired this company. I am already out $500 for the irresponsible drunk driver who hit and ran on my vehicle, and I am not paying for the irresponsible person who rented that vehicle before I ended up with it and returned it with a leaking tire and party residue all over it. That vehicle has a computer and hertz should be able to determine when the issue started before they just blamed it on me. I have yet to hear back from the recovery company after she touched base with Hertz, but I'd be wary of renting from this company again and will refuse any future rental from this company with my insurance carrier. Everything may be about money to Hertz, but it's a matter of principle to me at this point. I am done paying for people to be irresponsible, and I am not paying for the Hertz employees not doing their jobs. And, I am not paying for a tire that I didn't ruin...
