I got the French Onion soup, it had kind of a sweet flavor to it that didn't blend well with other ingredients. You guys to step it up, super thin thin tomato slices, mostly all breading for the fried green tomatoes.

We LOVE dining at The Hammel Houe and it is beautiful! Always exceptional service and we love the ambiance and history. A few observations... The first time we had the chocolate cake it was warm with 2 scoops of icecream and a berry sauce. The second time I recommended it to a friend and the cake was dry, not warm and no berry sauce on the icecream, third time very dry, minimal icing, not warm and 1 small scoop of icecream. The first italian panini was in a wrap and exceptional and we recommended to our friends, several ordered during our next visit and it came with sandwich bread and not nearly as good. We will still continue enjoying The Hammel House and HIGHLY recommend it to all, just asking for consistency. Thank you :)

I can only speak on the restaurant, which was both aesthetically pleasing and relaxed. The servers were friendly and accommodating. The food was good, but the menu seemed underwhelming in comparison to the rest of the establishment. Overall, a place I'd like to visit again.

So sad over this experience. I haven't been to this restaurant for probably 10 years or more. I realize a lot can change over the years, and I can accept that. I always thought it was classy and higher end, so I chose to go there for my 56th bday. Family came in from KY to join me.They had the table reserved for us as requested, thank you, and the server was kind. However, she did put in part of the order and forgot to put in the entire order. I literally was the last one to get my food, about 15 minutes after everyone else. Then, the turkey hot shot, I believe it is called, was turkey deli meat. A horrible thing to serve in such a restaurant. The section we sat in felt like a cafeteria, tables and chairs all crammed in the small room. The other side of the restaurant is nicer. They had a Santa in that section and apparently that room wasn't chosen for us.Then two sweet kids, under the age of 14, I'd guess, were busy bussing tables. I love kids and they were working hard, but they were practically yelling at each other in their efforts to keep up. It was already loud, but I just felt heartbroken. I rarely get out with these family members, and this was a special day with special people. I couldn't even hear them in this loud crowded exceptionally unattractive room.I'm sorry this place has lost its cozy & classy feeling. Every worker had to rush about to apparently keep up with all the madness, which just ruined the atmosphere. Some of it might have been the day my birthday fell on, which happened to be a busy day for Waynesville.I am thankful we live in an awesome country, and thankful we have the ability to get out safely and do activities. However, when that happens next time, I have absolutely no plans to ever return here. Let down

We dined in for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 10AM and did not have to wait to be seated. My mom ordered the Biscuits and Gravy, and I ordered the half stack of pancakes with a side of bacon. The gravy was listed on the menu as a sausage gravy, but it did not taste like a typical sausage gravy (the meat in it didn’t really taste like sausage at all to be completely honest). Neither of us liked the gravy, but we thought the biscuits were great without it. The pancakes that I ordered on the other hand were delicious and absolutely HUGE! I was thankful that I ordered the half stack rather than the full stack. Overall, this was a great place to grab breakfast in Waynesville before the antique shops opened for the day. Our waitress was also helpful in recommending places to check out.

It used to be good before it changed hands. Now, the batter on the fried chicken is thick and chewy. The mashed potatoes are now soupy. The dinner roll used to be soft and fluffy with blackberry butter. Now it is a small, hard dinner roll with regular butter. The chicken is not dry, which is a plus. And the salad was good. We were very sad to see that the infamous chicken dinner has changed so much, so it has fallen off our faves list. It quickly made sense to us as to why the place only had a couple of customers, when it used to be packed.

My husband and I stayed at Hammel House Inn as a little staycation away from our teens, and really enjoyed the place. The rooms were lovely, with comfortable beds, plenty of space , and other included amenities. The restaurant was amazing and had nice, big portions. We ended up eating dinner there every night because the food was so good we didn’t want to look anywhere else, and we had breakfast both weekend days. The staff are all very friendly and did a wonderful job of making our stay the best it could be. We will definitely be back for dinner sometime since it isn’t too far from home.

We stopped at The Hammel House to eat dinner. The meatloaf dinner and chicken pot pie are delicious. The blueberry and chocolate cake desserts are also delicious. The prices are very reasonable. We will return and I would choose The Hammel House over the Golden Lamb (Lebanon, Oh).

I ordered a to-go order, and the person taking the order did not seem very familiar with the menu, then when I got there to pick up, they didn't have one of the side items I ordered, so I had to order another. When I got home, I discovered the dessert chocolate cake I ordered was missing, also. The turkey hot shot had the gravy already on it, (I had requested it on the side along with a little extra), so the sandwich was a soggy mess, which I ended up throwing out after tasting it. It seemed it was just thin deli turkey, not fresh turkey slices. Overall a very disappointing experience, I'm not inclined to go back.
