Where did the good old Hammel House go? The fried chicken isn't pan fried like it once was. The new fried chicken taste like a cheap frozen deep fried. Service was terrible and I think it was the manager or maybe the owner that was very unprofessional toward one of her servers very badly in the presence of customers (not cool).Side dishes were cold. Nothing like the delicious homestyle Sunday meals of the previous owners. Will not return.Nearby activities: Plenty of better activities and better things to do than going to this unfriendly place.Walkability: If you like long walks, this place might be your kind of place because parking is poor.Noteworthy details: Plenty of better restaurants in the same area, with better parking and great food for less money. And the management seems nicer.Parking: Good luck with street parking, or park in the parking lot of the restaurant across the street or in a no parking zone behind the firehouse.Wheelchair accessibility: No ramp. No restroom on the first floor.I guess if you're in a wheelchair, you'll need to go halfway around the block and down an alley, through the employee parking and in the back door.

Had lunch here. Had the green tomato BLT, excellent. They have fries, onion rings, torlenni salad and toss salad for side dishes. Price a re very reasonable and serving size is a good portion. Waitress was very helpful in suggestions and very friendly. Nice place to enjoy a meal and to have conversations with your table mates.Nearby activities: There are at least 60 small businesses to roam. The town is small and very Friendly.

Excellent food! Adults and kids loved the taste of everything! Great prices and extremely great service ! Our server was upbeat and very likable! We can't wait to come back! No idea why we waited so long to come check this out!❤️Vegetarian options: Mediterranean Veggie Wrap with egg plant asparagus, spinach and peppers. Was delicious!Kid-friendliness: Chicken fingers were good and " the most outstanding fries ever " according to the kids !

My husband and I stayed in the Cardinal room over the weekend for our anniversary and absolutely loved it! The room was up to date but also kept the historic esthetic about it. Breakfast was included in our stay but the food was so good we had to come back down for dinner! Also The location of Hammel House is on the main street of Waynesville, right next to local shops and attractions which was great when my husband and I needed to find some thing to do. Overall an amazing stay!

Came for the murder mystery dinner. Wow. The owner, staff, chef, presentation, what could be better?? Not much. Small business owned in a historical building with so much to offer and only more to come. I’d recommend staying in this inn and enjoying their events. Updated amenities, a great atmosphere and personal touch will make you feel like you are the most important person to walk through their door. everyone should give this place a stay and try and get into the current and upcoming events they may have. will absolutely return to this place!

I love visiting Waynesville for the shopping, but my daughter suggested we stay here for one night. It was a treat! After a fun day in the shops, we checked in with the wonderful staff, then went for dinner in the restaurant. The meal was fantastic--the pot roast with cheese grits is the definition of comfort food. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. I slept like a queen in my four-poster bed, even though I think I did hear the resident ghost cat meow a couple of times! Breakfast was included, and I regret that I still felt too full from the previous evening to want any of the heartier options (I'm sure the chicken and waffles is amazing!), but even my yogurt bowl was delicious, with fresh berries and granola. It was a perfect stay.

What an amazing experience! The staff were out of this world! We stayed in the Peacock room, very clean, antic but modern, and it had a Christmas tree. You would have to be crazy to not enjoy the food. Highly recommend the chicken salad sandwich!

My mom treated the family to dinner after a pee-wee football game. They were out of several food selections that we wanted, but the owner Robby- who is WONDERFUL made it right. Ryan the waiter was a delight, the atmosphere very relaxing and "fallish". The food was VERY good as well. It was a nice way to wind down for the afternoon. Highly recommend. And again, THANK-YOU ROBBY for being so absolutely FANTASTIC!

We have been coming to Waynesville to shop for many years and have always eaten lunch at the Hammel House Inn. It used to be a Quaint place to eat but now it's just like any other restaurant no charm at all

My wife and I stopped by on 09-24-2022 since we were over that way and have always wanted to try it.The building decor was what I would expect, old tavern style which I loved. The food on the other hand was a little disappointing. We were seated immediately inside but after being seated it was a while before we were even recognized. I feel that if we had been seated outside we would have been catered to quickly. It appeared to me that they were short staffed and most was under the age of 22 if not still in high school with no senior staff supervision and the quality of food suffered as well.Maybe we’ll give it another try and this was just a bad night. So much potential if the right leadership would be involved.

I ate here with a gal pal because frankly I heard there are spirits hanging out! We had a later lunch on a Sunday. Some tables were filled but it was not packed. We ordered our lunch and gabbed away. The server came over at one point to tell us that one of our meals had to be started over because it went to the wrong table. We were okay with that since we were enjoying each other's company. Now looking back, it was good that she owned up to a mistake but some kind of amends would have been better. Perhaps some free bread or an appetizer or something to hold us over until the meal arrived. I ordered the turkey with mashed potatoes and toast. This was a blast from the past for me and it was delicious! The server did give us "to go" cups which I was used to in the south. Nice touch. As far as the spirits? At one point something hit the back of my chair but there was no one behind me or anywhere near us. We also wondered what exactly happened to that entree. Ha! All in all a good vibe. No negative energy that I could sense. I was going to give 4 stars but the server's personality, my spirit bump and a really delicious meal rated 5 stars.
