Our daughter started at Pembroke a few weeks ago, and we are beyond impressed with the experience so far. From day one, the teachers have shown such genuine care and attention—not just to our child, but to every single child in all the classrooms. They take the time to really get to know each child’s personality, needs, and preferences, which has made the transition so much smoother for our girl.
As all parents know, it’s not easy leaving your little one in someone else’s hands all day. But Pembroke truly puts our minds at ease. The teachers send detailed updates and plenty of photos throughout the day, which help us stay connected and informed about what our daughter is doing and how she is feeling. Communication is a priority here, and that makes a huge difference.
The owner, Lucy, is absolutely wonderful—her passion for children and early education shines through in everything she does. She has created a warm, welcoming environment that feels like an extension of home. You can tell she’s poured her heart into building a space where children feel safe, loved, and encouraged to grow.
We honestly couldn’t imagine sending our daughter anywhere else. It’s rare to find a place that blends professionalism with such a personal, heartfelt touch—and Pembroke does it beautifully.

I worked at The Pembroke School over the summers for 4 years in a row during college about 10 years ago. At that time, I decided I would send my future kids to Pembroke due to the kind and loving staff. I knew the kids were treated well, loved and safe.
Now, ten years later, my 3 year old and 1 year old attend Pembroke. My kids thrive there. Being a COVID baby, my 3 year old didn’t have too much prior kid exposure because of the pandemic prior to starting at Pembroke. He started at Pembroke at 18 months old. When he started at Pembroke, there were some concerns about his behavior- things I did notice at home but seemed to be more evident at school. The owner Lucy was honest and open with me about the concerns and provided feedback and support to help him to grow. Now about a year later, I feel like I have a different kid. He is doing so well socially and has made such an improvement. I feel like our interventions, plus being at Pembroke with a routine has really helped him overall.
My one year old also loves going to Pembroke and has adapted so quickly due to the kind and loving staff.
I love that I never have to worry about my kids at Pembroke and I know that they’re safe. They are always quick to text and communicate and I really do trust their teachers opinions. My children have learned so much and I am always noticing new things that they have learned at Pembroke. I am thankful for their care and thankful that they are happy, safe and loved when mom and dad have to be at work.
Additionally, I feel that it should be noted that my older son has an early intervention specialist who comes out to Pembroke to work with him once a week. She visits all the schools in the area and during our conference today, she mentioned how she loves coming out to Pembroke to help my son. She said it is in her opinion, one of the best child care centers in the area due to the sweet and loving staff. She told me she can tell how much the teachers care for the children and that she looks forward to coming to Pembroke each week due to that. This conversation prompted me to write this review and I hope it helps other parents when they are looking for child care options for their children. If you want your kids to feel safe and loved while you are at work, Pembroke is the best place to send them!

We have been a part of the Pembroke School family for almost five years now. The school itself is clean, welcoming, and full of love. The caliber of the teaching staff is unmatched. However, the true draw of the school resides in the compassionate care assistanct daycare director, Kimberly, provides all of the students on the daily. Kudos to Pembroke! A true gem of the area.

We have two children at The Pembroke School, a two and a half year old and an infant. My two and a half year old has been at the daycare since he was 5 months old. Prior to his enrollment at The Pembroke School, our son had a nanny who walked out on us mid-shift without telling us. We were traumatized by this experience and wanted a daycare we could trust would give our son the best care. My husband and I were blown away by the excellent care he had received and continues to receive from The Pembroke School. The standards of care at this school are higher than any other schools we toured. My oldest son is now in the early preschool class and looks forward to going to school every day. It is a huge comfort knowing he is in such good hands. I look forward to seeing what learning activities he does each day because it is always something different. It is clear that a lot of thought and effort go into the curriculum, even for the younger classes! The daycare director, Lucy Miller, emphasizes that Pembroke caters to picky parents, and she couldn’t be more correct! I recommend The Pembroke School to everyone I know. Two of my family member’s children and my best friend’s children now attend the school as well. It is by far the best decision we have ever made relating to our children.

This review is not only painful to write, but im sure will be painful to read. I worked at Pembroke Preschool for 7 months, August 2023 through March 2024, and this is my honest review of the center from an employees view. I am going to work really hard to keep my personal opnions and emotions out of this review, and state only facts as to what really goes on at Pembroke.Lucy Miller is the owner of Pembroke, and her and her alone is responsible for how the preschool operates seeing as how she doesn't give any freedom of decision to any emplyees. It is Lucy's way or no way, which fosters zero room for growth, learning, and respect. The employees that work for lucy are over worked, micromanaged, and treated only sometimes with respect depending on the day. Unfortunately, there is a high turn over of teachers at this preschool due to how teachers are treated at Pembroke.Lucy can be incredibly manipulative abd deceitful not only to employees but to parents as well. Most of the parents catch on to this pretty quickly thankfully and I know this because I have had many parents open up to me and express their dislike towards Lucy. What all these parents have in common though, is why they put up with her and keep their child enrolled, which is because of the amazing teachers and how they care for children. The teachers at Pembroke are mistreated daily, yet do everything in their power to make the best experience they can for the children. The teachers work very hard with what they are given. Many of the teachers spend hundreds of their own hard owned money just to keep their rooms up and running due to the lack of supplies provided by Lucy. Lucy can be very unethical when it comes to classroom supplies and the quality of food provided to the children. Lucy is also very blind when it comes to behavioral issues with children. I allowed her to ignore my concerns about certain behaviors I had observed in my classroom becuase i figured she knew more than me. After two weeks at my new new teaching job, i have found that she was very wrong in her words to me. I expressed my concern about the safety of the children in my room due to multiple reason which she blew off. Knowing what I know now, it is incredibly disrespectful and unethical how lucy runs her classroom and moves child room to room based on age and not readiness just so she can add more kids to the program and make more money.A side note, she also has no way to back up a behavior concern as there is no continuing assement being done of the children. She did jusy reintroduce DECA back in which is a wonderful screening tool to gauge cognitive and social emotional skills, but its only a screening or a snapshot, not an ongoing assignment. For anyone who feels upset with me about writting this review, all i have to say to them is the following: Lucy did this to herself, her employees, and the children she promised to take care of. The only reason I worked for her as long as i did was because i loved my kids in my classroom. Unfortunately her verbal abuse got to be to much for me and i had to do what was best for myself and get out of the situation.I still to this day here stories from former coworkers on how their working conditions are still declining. And Lucy, if your upset at this review, as i have told you plenty of times, i dont lie...

Pembroke school is absolutely amazing! Both of my kids have gone here for many years and they absolutely love it! The staff truly cares about each and every child that goes here! My kids have learned so much here, we are so glad we switched to Pembroke! My son needed help with his speech and the staff was more than happy to accommodate different learning techniques in order to help him with his speech delay. Because of their help he has been thriving! When we drop our kids off we are at ease knowing that our kids are safe and loved throughout the day!

I have worked for Pembroke for over two years now, and I must say I made the right decision to come and work here. I have been treated with kindness and respect from Lucy and Kimberly. I truly enjoy what I do and the families that I partner with. As an employee it is a great feeling to love what you do and where you’re doing it at. Pembroke is a caring and nurturing childcare center that I’m truly happy to be a part of.

There is no better daycare, hands down. My daughter thrived while in Pembroke. She came home everyday with a smile on her face. I knew when I dropped her off she would be safe and loved while in their care. They have a learning program that instills confidence and has your child ready to enter kindergarten. Lucy, Kim and all the teachers are amazing!

I am so thankful for all of the efforts in helping me with child care. When I needed them most they weren't hesitant to assist. My son adores all his teachers and has been thriving here. I highly recommend their services.

There is no better place to send your child for daycare/preschool. My daughter has attended pembroke since she was 3 months old through preschool. Not only was she is a safe and loving environment, she was more than prepared for kindergarten. By the time she finished her time at pembroke she was reading and writing at a first grade level, addition, subtraction, etc. I feel so blessed to have found pembroke and feel that the AMAZING staff has made an incredible impact on my daughter.Ms. Lucy the owner has employed the kindest and most loving teachers you could ever hope for; Ms. Kimberly who is by the far the warmest and most lovely woman who has always treated my child like her own. We LOVE pembroke!

We expressed concerns that our 2 yr daughter was repeatedly coming home with bruises on her inner thighs. Shortly after that they would call me twice a week telling me my daughter was sick and I would have to take her to the doctor if she was to return. Every time the doctor would say there is nothing wrong. My daughter then started having constipation issues and they would say I had to come pick her up. After a month of this we finally found a new daycare and miraculously all my daughters issues disappeared. She was at the new daycare for 3 years no problems. On a positive note the girls in the baby room are amazing and we didn’t really have any issues until ourdaughter moved to the toddler room.My daughter would get upset every time i left her at Pembrooke which I shrugged off as normal. After 3 months of the new school this issue also resolved itself.

Just called to inquire about getting my daughter enrolled here. Whoever answered the phone was very rude and once I said I was receiving assistance was ever rider, short, kept over talking me and quickly rushed me off the phone. Definitely felt very discriminated against in the 2 mins we were on the phone. Not people I’d want supervising my child.
