About Wooster Memorial Park (formerly Spangler)

Wooster Memorial Park is a beautiful natural area with woods, trails, and scenic routes that change throughout the seasons. It offers numerous trail options that interconnect, making endless combinations possible, through gorges, along ridges, across a wide stream, and through fields. There are easy, flat trails and other harder trails for more advanced hikers, with colored markers on trees for guidance. The park is very clean and well-kept, with some visitors helping to pick up trash. The park is dog-friendly, but dogs must be on a leash at all times. This rule is important as there have been incidents of off-leash dogs, leading to frustration and requests for more signage. There is a nice picnic area with pavilions and tables, though bringing bug spray is recommended as it can be crowded with lots of people and mosquitoes. The toilets are available but are described as more like an outhouse and are sometimes locked or dirty. There is no playground, just hiking trails. Visitors should watch for smaller rocks, sticking out roots, occasional poison ivy, and rare broken glass on the trails.
