“We pulled up to the motel around 8:00 PM and were a little skeptical at first. There weren’t many cars outside, and the exterior was pretty basic. However, the desk clerk was friendly, got us checked in quickly, gave us the Wi-Fi/guest information, and we were on our way.

The rooms are only accessible from the outside. There are two floors, and the second floor is reached by stairs only, with no elevator. This was not a problem for us, but it could be an issue for someone with mobility concerns.

When we first walked into the room, it was very stuffy and hot because the air conditioner was not on, and this was the end of June. We dropped our things off, turned the AC way down, and decided to kill some time at a small casino about 10 minutes down the road while the room cooled off. When we returned around 1:00 AM, the room was very cold, so the AC definitely worked well.

The room itself was very large. It had a king-size bed, two nightstands with lamps, two chairs, a luggage rack, a TV and a TV cabinet with a mini fridge and microwave, and a desk with a desk chair. We did not use the fridge or microwave, but they were there. There were no USB ports, so be sure to bring a plug-in charger for your phone. The TV was connected to direct TV with the basic channels.

The main room had newer wood-look laminate flooring, and the walls and ceiling looked like they had been painted within the last year or so. Everything appeared clean, with no visible cracks or water stains. The bathroom area had older tile, but it was clean. The shower/tub had a newer surround installed and was also very clean. The tub was not a jacuzzi tub, but it was large and deep. There was also a hair dryer and iron in the bathroom area. The water pressure was excellent, and the hot water was great.

The mattress was very firm. I had a harder time sleeping on it because that is not my preference, but my husband slept fine. The bed had a sheet and a thin bedspread, and the bedding had a slight bleach smell. I usually get cold at night, while my husband is the opposite, so I found myself wishing for a heavier blanket. I am sure if I had asked, they would have brought one, but since we got back to the room so late, I did not want to bother anyone. That part was probably self-inflicted.

The room was also fairly bright at night because the curtain only covered the window itself, and the parking lot lights glowed around the edges. This did not bother me, but my husband prefers a pitch-black room. The area was quiet overall, and we did not hear noise from other guests. There was an occasional train that came through town, which I heard before falling asleep, but it did not wake me once I was asleep. Light sleepers may want to keep that in mind.

Overall, this was a good basic roadside motel for a one-night stay. It was clean, quiet, spacious, and the staff was friendly. It is not fancy, but it worked well for what we needed.”
