Heartland Heritage Center Museum is a great place to explore rich history and enjoy a wonderful art gallery. The museum offers many events throughout the year and activities for kids. Visitors can learn about the area's Cowboy and Indian territory history and view talented local artists' work available for purchase. Although some may find it closed during visits, it is worth stopping by when in the area.

Unfortunately it was closed when we passed through the area. (No matter what day of the week it is we seem to have mostly bad luck with the small town museums.)
We did like the festive blue bison with his wreath and the stage was decorated. Perhaps they had a show or pageant just a day or so before our visit.

A great museum with rich history and a wonderful art gallery for all to view. Lots of great events throughout the year and things for the kids to do.

If you are ever passing through. Stop by the Checotah museum and art gallery. Learn a little about the area's Cowboy and Indian territory history. There are some talented local artists' art on display to purchase.
