Old Magnolia Garage is a cool name for this convenience store and gas station strategically located on Old 66. It is set up to serve the locals and capture Route 66 tourist business. Stocked with everything you would expect: sweet, savory salty snacks, soda, beer, fryer food, and a few Route 66 trinkets. Get there early in the day for their best and most famous offering, Arbuckle Fried Pies. Yes, those world famous crusty folded and fried pockets of fruit filled heaven. On an unwavering mission, we rounded the corner east bound on Route 66 late in the afternoon. Our destination in sight, the Old Magnolia Garage. In I go, straight to the big fried pie display case. I really wasn’t expecting to find anything left at this time of the day, but there they were, two blackberry pies. Somehow, they survived the morning feeding frenzy. They were immediately adopted, along with a strawberry. Tomorrow’s breakfast delight.Nope, not as good as if I had been there when they came from the fryer, but good just the same with a fresh cup of coffee the next morning.Get there early!

Prepare to be transported to a gastronomic wonderland at this gas station – a haven where the mundane meets the extraordinary. The fried pies here redefine the very essence of convenience cuisine, elevating gas station fare to a culinary symphony. From the first bite, it's evident that these fried pies are not mere snacks; they are masterpieces of indulgence. The flaky, golden crusts cradle fillings that dance on the palate – each bite, a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. Whether you surrender to the classic allure of apple pie or embark on a decadent journey with chocolate ganache or blueberry compote, every option is a testament to culinary finesse. The execution is flawless; the pies emerge from the fryer with a tantalizing crunch that gives way to an inner sanctum of warmth and delight. It's a sensory experience that transcends the expectations of gas station gastronomy. What truly sets this establishment apart is the commitment to extravagance. The glaze, a divine elixir of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, cascades over the pies like a culinary waterfall. Toppings abound, from the sophistication of crushed nuts to the whimsy of rainbow sprinkles – each pie becomes a canvas, a work of art in the realm of fried perfection. The service, too, is a symphony of efficiency. The pies are crafted with a precision that belies the humble gas station setting, and the staff's dedication to ensuring every patron leaves with a smile is palpable. In the realm of gas station fried pies, this establishment stands as a beacon of culinary excellence. Prepare to have your taste buds serenaded and your expectations shattered – for here, fried pies cease to be a mere snack; they become a culinary spectacle, an indulgence that lingers on the palate and in the memory.

The pies are really good and the restrooms were clean. I stopped by this place on my exploration of art 66. It is worth the stop. I will defiantly be stopping if I am ever in the area.“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”John 14:6 NIV

Stopped here to get an Arbuckle Fried Pie on a Sunday afternoon. They had several in the case, but they made us fresh ones. They were wonderful! Hot and flaky and perfect. The lemon one that I got was just the right amount of tart. My companions also loved the chocolate/peanut butter and peach. There was a small area where we sat to eat. The entire place including the bathrooms was very clean. Only saw one employee and he was very friendly, efficient and professional.

Heard about the fried pies from people at work that had them in Davis, OK. These are supposed to be the same recipe. Yes the flavor is very lemony. Light flaky crust. Very tasty.

Fried pies, sweet and savory, are AMAZING! They make terrific pizza and the chicken strips are top notch! We have had sandwiches that they build for you fresh. Let's not forget the INCREDIBLE ranch!!! This place is a MUST for everyone...especially if travelling through Davenport on Route 66!
