I've only been scrapping for a couple years. Seen a lot of scrap yards though. This one didn't even try to collect my copper and brass even when I told them it was in the car and not on the trailer. They grab the fridge I threw off the struts off myself. At the scales I try to get someones attention to the remind them that the brass and copper was in the car with me. Nobody's so much as even looked at me. I moved my vehicle off and out of people's way. Came back to the window to ask him what happened had $11 shoved in my face and backs turned towards me. First time I've ever seen that. She didn't even ask for my ID or take the license plate down. One Star in a big WOW all the way around. Could have been an off day but I'm not willing to give it a second try to see.

Quoted a very good price per ton of scrap, agreed and was told the next accessible driver would be out sometime soon. After a month of them forgetting about me, driver troubles and other issues, they ghosted me not answering either listed contact number nor email. I told them I’d sell them my scrap so I didn’t want to take back my word but after two months of no contact I moved on.
Another salvage yard told me for my type of scrap Southside is best and gave me a new contact number and informed me scrap prices had dropped almost in half around the time I was ghosted. Maybe Southside was having technical difficulties, maybe they were at their limit on scrap or financial difficulties or maybe after a month long worth of delays it had suddenly left them with the option of going back on their word, paying an extra $600ish to keep their word or ghost me.
Anyways called the new number and reached a person there. They confirmed a much lower price and the price did move around that time but didn’t remember what the old price was. While I’m disappointed in them it didn’t change the fact that scrap metal was down everywhere at the previously mentioned time and out of 3 salvage yards (some in nearby towns) and 3 online junk car buyers, Southside offered double or sometimes more compared to other places. With some places offering less than $60 to take my scrap, in comparison, I can’t say I’m happy with the results but I do have to recognize they give an honest price which seems to be rare in salvage.

I just watched one of those flat bed trucks pull a pretty old truck out of the driveway across the street from our house
He left tire marks and I’m sure those tires are fairly junk now so I’m going to speak with the home owner and let them know what I saw and give them my surveillance footage if they need it for insurance or anything that is not right I know who I will not use for any towing in or outta town

A simple tow turns into me having to buy new tires & get a local company to deep clean/pressure wash my driveway!
They will drag your CLASSIC vehicle out of the driveway and not give a F about it.
Tires now have flat spots, driveway now has four tire drag marks, 2 pretty severe.
Excuse was the trucks e brake was stuck but I had just push it BY HAND Into that spot last weekend. 09/14/24. Its an old pickup!
You have to know what you are doing.
No tire skates were used or car Dollie’s rollers to get it to the rollback and the driver I guess doesn’t know how to walk the wrecker to pickup something like this.
I have my light/medium wrecker license, I was in the first class for the owoa in 2019.
I know how these things are supposed to go and how to prevent things like this!
USE THE EQUIPMENT PROVIDED TO YOU BY THE HIGHWAY PATROL LAW BOOK.
This is my rules and law are changing in Oklahoma!
Stop messing up people things.
It may look like a cheap truck & cheap driveway but they are mine.
What if I drug one of your wreckers down the road or messed up your driveway?!

Never have any issues or problems at this scrap yard. I personally like it better than you know who a few roads over.

Metal cut short to standards 3ft no wider than 1ft fair haul good pay next load same 3ft by 1ft load except this time nick pick and check to see if Metal was passable and of course it was I spent a week cutting it so I'd know! Can't have that can't have this for number 1 grade well that's funny last load exactly the same material of Metal cut and docked for. So ? I'll let the jury out there decide on whether or not it's fair...
