“OK, if you are even remotely near the cool little Victorian style town of Guthrie Oklahoma, you gotta stop if for no other reason than to visit the Licorice Man.
Rick is everything you want somebody who runs a candy store to be. One of the nicest guys you’d ever wanna meet. He’s so knowledgeable about all the various candies in that shop that he can tell you the history of the candy itself, and it’s significance of the region of the US or country that it comes from. He’s got candies i guaranteed you’ve never heard of, or if you have, likely haven’t seen them in the stores in a couple decades.
He offers you cold bottled water for free when you come in, and he wants you to try his products, and is very liberal with the free samples.
I bought quite a bit of candy for my road trip, but walked out of there full from so many free samples i was a couple hours down the road before i dug into my bag of snacks.
I almost get the feeling he is just a candy fanatic that runs the shop as a way to support his habit, lol.
I was in there probably an hour just chatting about the different candies, and even just chatting about the part of the country i was from. And then some teenagers came in and he was just as friendly with them. Super polite kids too…. Kudos to the parents in Guthrie Oklahoma.
At some point i remembered that i was on a road trip and needed to get back on the highway and headed out, but if i’m ever in Guthrie again i’ll definitely make a stop.
The only way my visit woulda been better, is if he sang a song to the kids in the store, like the guy from the candy store in Willy Wonka that sells Charlie the chocolate bar with the golden ticket.

Can’t recommend this place highly enough.”
