This stop brought me great delight! I just loved imagining the journey on Route 66 when places like this existed.
I wish I could have met Lucille or read her journals. I imagine she had a satisfying life filled with hard work and bountiful joy.

Small stop on route 66, pumps closed since 2001. Small picnic on site.

About Lucille's Historic Highway Gas Station
The Provine Service Station is a historic filling station on U.S. Route 66 in Oklahoma. Located a half-mile south of Hydro, Oklahoma and operated by Lucille Hamons from 1941 until her death on August 18, 2000, the site was added to the US National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
