About Lucille's Historic Highway Gas Station
Lucille's Historic Highway Gas Station is a historic filling station on U.S. Route 66 in Hydro, Oklahoma. It is a place of Highway 66 history and a very popular stop for those traveling on the route. For many, it is a highlight of the journey and brings great delight, offering a trip back in time to when places like this existed. The station was operated by Lucille Hamons from 1941 until her passing, and she was known as the 'Mother of the Mother Road'. She would tell stories of life on the old road with detail and animation, and enthusiastically share her collection of memorabilia. Visitors could buy Route 66 souvenirs and t-shirts, and she was known locally for having the coldest beer in Oklahoma. The property has been renovated and is well kept and peaceful. There is no restaurant, but there are a couple of suites to rent. It is a wonderful and cherished part of Route 66 history, highly recommended to experience.

They’ve kept this little historic site up and Lucille has other properties to visit. No waits no tickets. It’s on the side of the road.

On Route 66 and a timeless place to visit for pictures and a little history. It is only seen from the exterior as a historic site.

I got the steak salad for lunch and it was delicious. I went with the smaller option and was surprised how much was on the plate. The service was quick and friendly. I'd definitely recommend eating here.
