The Cherokee Area at Grand Lake State Park is a beautiful, clean, and peaceful place for camping, fishing, and spending quality time with family and friends. Located at the southern tip of Grand Lake near the Pensacola Dam, it offers three distinct campgrounds with large, level sites, including plentiful waterfront RV spots. The area is very family-friendly and welcomes dogs, provided they are on a leash. Visitors can enjoy fishing with or without a boat, kayaking, a challenging nine-hole golf course with a driving range, and trails for rock crawling or riding. The park is open all year and does not close for winter. Premium campsites are very large pull-through spots with full hookups, a fire ring, a lantern hook, and a picnic table. Facilities include heated and cooled bathrooms with showers that are cleaned and stocked daily, plus conveniently located dumpsters. The park is home to tons of wildlife like deer, geese, ducks, eagles, foxes, and raccoons. The staff, including Park Rangers, are friendly and amazing, responding quickly to any concerns. Quiet hours and a slow speed limit help maintain a serene atmosphere, making it a prime spot for a peaceful stay.
