“The seller and I could not find a bank that would work with us to secure a mortgage on his house because it was deemed to be "unique"-- some of them stating that the barn style roof made the house a "barndominium" and therefore virtually untouchable. Even Rocket Mortgage, who claims to be quick and easy, turned us down inside of ten minutes--again citing the "unique" roof as a disqualification. The situation was so hopeless that the seller allowed me to enter into a Contract for Deed until a mortgage could be secured.I found Cheryl Koontz and the First United Mortgage Group after three years of searching other dead ends. Cheryl candidly informed me of the challenges I faced but assured me that she would endeavor to work through each of them. I admit I was initially concerned that the relatively low amount of the sale price might not warrant a serious effort, but that was far from the case. In the end, Cheryl and her team were able to secure a mortgage contract which granted me the maximum credits for my three years of investments into the house--I even walked away from the closing table with money in my pocket! I am now living in my dream home because Cheryl and her team pulled out all of the stops to make it happen. If you have looked elsewhere for help with a difficult situation then give Cheryl and First United a shot--if there is a solution to be found then they are your best bet for finding it.”
