Took a buck and a doe in a week apart.
The doe was about 75 lbs. The buck was 135lbs.
I got 12 2 lb packs of burger, 2 roasts, and butterfly steaks from the backstraps. 35 total lbs of meat from a 135 lb buck.?.??? Very clean kill with no damage to anything other than ribcage. Where did the rest of the meat go? Should have been 55-65 lbs of meat.
We only got 22 lbs of meat off the doe. (8 two pound packs of burger and butterfly steaks from the back straps). They asked if we wanted the tenderloins. When they brought them out they looked like two chicken nuggets.
I know when you shot a deer and hit it bad you can lose some meat but both of these deer were clean shot through the lungs with no damage anywhere but the rib cage. Both were very cleanly gutted and taken in the following day after hanging in 35-40 degree temps overnight.
I've had over 100 deer processed and this is by far the least amount of meat I've gotten off any deer regardless of how bad it was hit. Thunderbird has always been pretty good for us but I am very disappointed this go around.

Dropped buck off Monday and picked it up that Saturday morning! Quick turnaround! Vacuumed sealed, labeled and so reasonably priced! The check in and ordering process was easy and THANKS to the extremely nice lady who explained the cutting process! Will be a customer again.

Took in a 8 point buck app : 125 lbs paid extra to have field dressed, told them I wanted the liver & heart about 6 weeks later I got called my meat was ready I wanted everything ground except back straps and render loins, I did not get the liver & heart got the back straps and tender loins and 24 lbs. of burger only.

Super happy with the service here. I have butchered my deer myself for years because of poor experiences and prices with processors in the past. This year my daughter got her first deer while I still had mine to process and I just didn't have the time to get both done without walk-in refrigeration, so on recommendation I brought her deer's carcass to Thunderbird. Their price was fair and the packaged take home weight was very good for what I brought in (I weighed the carcass beforehand). Very happy experience, highly likely to continue using them.
