Bought a car from Carmax that I thought I liked. Ended up having engine oil consumption issues, oil mixing with coolant. Replaced/fixed. Two oil changes later, about 7 months in I have my engine light come on. Cam shaft replacement. Still having engine issues. Carmax won’t buy this car back and now I’m stuck with the problems. They won’t help at all or provide any compensation for their crappy inspection they did. They don’t check anything on the vehicle and are assuming the previous owners “took excellent care” of the car. They didn’t even help with the gap in the payment. Corporate says one thing and the actual location says another. Never buy a vehicle from them, prices are WAY too high for the quality you get. Save yourself the headache and the stress. Help your wallet out too.

Dealing with Carmax is the most pleasant way of buying/selling a vehicle that I have experienced. They have always been friendly, courteous, and totally honest about their vehicles. I highly recommend them over the traditional auto dealers.

We are long time repeat buyers from CarMax and have always had a great experience at other locations across the country. However, this location in Edmond, OK needs some help with their sales/customer service. We were there last weekend to test drive and buy a $70,000 car- after our brief experience, that will NOT be happening. We will be going direct to the manufacturing dealership. The salesman who helped us acted like he hated his job and did not want to be there and definitely did NOT want to help us. I watched him literally DRAG his feet when he came over to meet us. Pulled the car up and did not go over anything inside it or about it- nothing basic at all and then left. I get it- no pressure sales but might be nice if a car that is like no other on the market, would it hurt to give some basic instruction of where to find specific controls? That might have taken an extra minute, to keep a loyal customer.

Carmax is deceiving people and they are aware of it. Their buyer told me they are aware of it but don't care enough to stop. Carmax sent me an offer for my car that was a range of $48,610 - $59,988. Since It's a 4 hour round trip and I'd need to take two cars so I could get home I called them twice over two day before I left and asked why such broad range for a car in excellent condition with all their vehicle conditions answered and was told they didn't know why the range was so wide but if mine was in excellent condition they would pay the $59,988. After we got there they offered only $44,000. When I asked the Carmax buyer why the offer wasn't the $59,988 he said that Carmax offers people prices that Carmax would never pay, and that Carmax would never pay anyone near the $59,988 they offered me even if it was new, that they are deceiving people on purpose and blamed having to lie to sellers like me because they have an algorithm issue, that Carmax really doesn't care, and they've had the problem and have been deceiving people for a long time. 2 of us wasted a full day with mileage put on 2 cars and gas money for 2 cars driving 4 hours. My time is more valuable than to be lied to and purposely deceived. I'm filing a complaint with the Oklahoma State Attorney General's office and the Better business bureau.

The sales person who did my appraisal was also supposedly my new car person and no one wanted to take that away from her so once I had a new car picked out, I sat and waited while she sold a car to someone else. I finally left to come back the next day bcs my sales person was unavailable. By the next morning, the car I wanted had been shipped off and no longer was on the lot. I had to find a new car now. Then, my sales person left me sitting in chair; waiting to do a test drive, so that she could do an appraisal on another car. When she came back she said she couldn’t find the car for 30 minutes after I heard her tell her supervisor that was helping when I was upset that the other car had been shipped, that she needed to do the appraisal. Then my bank kept asking her for the sales contract and she kept sending one that wasn’t signed instead of following the bank’s directions. In the meantime, I had warned the sales person that if we got to noon, there was a mandatory meeting I needed to call into. I was told after the meeting that she complained that I was wasting her time by taking that call instead of sitting with her and the bank. (Which was all by email between the two of them.) when all of that was settled, they finally took my trade in and brought out the new to me car. I noticed some minor things wrong w it and asked if I could schedule an appointment to get it fixed. The gentleman in the service area told me I needed to have my sales person write it into the contract so they could get me in sooner. When I went back to talk to my sales person, they said it’s part of the car care service and she was not gonna write anything in my contract. I was there from 10am-5pm trying to get everything sorted and constantly waiting on my sales person as I watched others come and go. I did not get the car I originally wanted, I waited around a lot giving me the experience that Carmax is no better than any other car lot.

I bought a car in okc, I am from Illinois. I have had my car for less than a month and it started acting up. I did have a recall, which the salesperson knew about and told me about. But after taking it into my local mechanic shop my oil was 2.5 quarts low and the battery cord was able to be removed by hand. It was not tightened. I am very frustrated. If I knew that's the kind of place I was buying from I wouldn't have. Now I have an 18k loan on a car I don't trust because of where it came from.

CarMax was a very good place to buy a car. They treated us very wel,l, they bought us lunch, bc we were there for a good part of the day. they filled up the car with gas before we left. they made sure all our questions were answered. our vehicle did not have an owners manual and they told us if we bought one and saved the receipt and brought it in to show them, they would reimburse us for it. They did that! Staff was very nice!
