This rec center has some serious retro character. I wouldn't call it charming, more gritty and urban, a survivor. Like a disco era Y in some neighborhood in Philly or Detroit. It is my new favorite spot to bring the fam. No one goes here besides the morning geriatrics. It's small, comically dated, has less amenities or modern equiptment than your average gym, and it's definitely not the cleanest of places..But they are making it work, and likely on a shoestring budget. And I feel like it's all mine! They let me use the water aerobics equipment free of charge. I can shoot hoop with hubby and the kiddies without conflict. Basketball court has even been refinished recently. They plan on moving to a bigger newer building, but that's still years away. So I will enjoy this place while I still can. Just avoid the locker rooms.
