I am so glad we used PODS on our move half-way across the country. We didn't have to stress over the 5 day limit on the truck rental, we didn't have to worry about going through the weigh stations or driving a big truck in bad weather. It was so easy! The initial phone Rep was fantastic, and all of the drivers that we encountered at drop off and pick up, and then drop off at our destination and pick up were very polite and very courteous and extremely knowledgeable about what they were doing. They called ahead of time and work just so polite and professional it was a real treat. PODS it's not cheap but once you factor in cost of the truck rental and fuel from renting with another company plus the fact that they give a USAA discount it is actually quite competitive. You get what you pay or sometimes in life, and I do not begrudge them charging a premium when everybody is fleeing California to other parts of the country. Plus, their employees were so pleasant to deal with a polite. At these various pick up and polite. Pick ups and drop offs they were on time every single time. Their text message reminders, the app that they have which is so easy to use and follow, their phone customer service which is so great all adds up to getting what you pay for. We would use PODS again in a flat second without hesitating!

This company is a joke. My father in law scheduled our pod to be picked up and delivered to our new address. They admitted the scheduling mistake on their end and yet they didn't change the pickup date. Will never use this poor excuse of a company again. When you call customer service it isn't someone in the US. Just a heads up to any of you thinking of using this company. They are a joke and very disrespectful. I prefer 0 stars but it is telling me to add at least 1. What a joke and a clown show

We got the pod then 2 hours later learned we didn't need it. Never stepped foot in it. Scheduled pick up the same day. Driver who picked it up found a powder. Told my husband we might have to pay clean up fee. We were charged full price plus $52 dollars more for a pod we didn't enter or use. No one has responded to my email.

Do not use this company if you need it under a month. I used their pod for 15 days was charged drop off, pick up, and delivery to new address but they admit to over charging people if you use it for under a month. I was charged $117.23 over the daily amount.

They tell you about some of the charges but not all and when you want to schedule a return so you don't get charged for a month of rent they black out the pick up days till after the due date and then charge you more. So you're stuck with the pod for another month. ADDING EDIT AFTER RESPONSE FROM PODS: initial charge 368.57 for insurance. 105.91 drop off fee. 197.34 monthly rent 54.43 non paved surface fee. Rent was from 7/20 to 8/19. Tried logging in to schedule pick relocation on 8/12 so I could have the pod emptied and picked up by the 20th and all the dates were blacked out till the 22nd so I had to pay for another month and the rate increased to 281.93 plus insurance plus a 79.00 move fee plus another fee for picking it up. Total charge 846.30.

If I could give this zero stars I would. They have illegally charged us nearly $700 and now I have to sit around hoping they give it back. Don't book with these guys. They're frauds.Update: we had to update our card information. They still tried charging the old card then IMMEDIATELY threatened us with collections for their mistake.

I used PODS on a move to another state. At a minimum, I would recommend hiring professional movers to load the pod because they can help you maximize the space and ensure things are properly loaded. The service is reliable, the drivers and salespeople are easy to work with, and the online portal is pretty user friendly. All in, I ended up saving over a thousand dollars over traditional movers. The worst part about PODS was the wait to speak to a representative. They upsell you on reserving additional pods and while they offer free cancellation, you have to call in at least three days in advance of your delivery date to cancel or you get fined. You can't cancel online or by using their chat function (I never saw it active--it was always unattended). While this may seem pretty reasonable, it can take a really long time to speak to someone. When cancelling my extra pod, it took me two days and two separate calls to reach someone--definitely not how I wanted to be spending my time during a move! It was frustrating that they don't have better staffing during move season when it's mandatory to make cancellations by phone.

I strapped the entire load into sections inside the pod. Straps are cheap at Harbor Freight. So there was no movement inside the container. (I used a full service mover for my first shipment and there wasn't a single box that wasn't crushed and contents damaged). The moving companies say they have insurance but they only insurance for a fraction of the cost of replacement. $0.60 per lb per item. A dish set for example if a crushed plate weighs a pound you get $0.60 of course it doesn't weigh a pound so you get nothing. That is where pods come in. As long as you strap the lid into sections nothing moved inside. If you care about your belongings consider pods; pack-rats had hidden costs so I was glad I read the contract.Pods was upfront with everything. They charged the card several times but not past the contract price. The problems with pods is with their customer service. Takes hours to get a hold of them.

I had a pods container delivered to an address, and assumed the large container would fit. The driver went way above the company's standards, and coordinated the perfect location. The trees would not allow the container to be placed where I wanted it, and he stayed on the phone communicating with myself and a neighbor to get it just right. My driver for this container did everything perfect!

My experience with PODs was great! I like to pack and load my own items. This gives my the freedom to do so then, have someone come and pick up the load and deliver it to the new address. So easy!

If a weather delay occurs, expect PODS to leave you high and dry scrambling to find alternative means to complete your move and offer no refund (even partial) for completely abdicating their side of the agreement. They'll also lie and assure you they can still get it done, just slightly delayed so you waste hours waiting for them to show only to later completely move you on the schedule by a week or more.

Be careful they don't try to give you the older wooden frame pods. They are cheaply built, leak and do not have proper tie down bars. We had one of those provided, in addition to the newer metal frame pods. As a result we had water damage and some broken items when delivered. They committed (in email) to provide a months credit for each pod, for our trouble. But after 2 months we still have not received the credit and no response to follow up email. Not impressed.Drivers that delivered/picked up pods were good to work with.

UPDATE: 3 weeks later, they sent me alleged "empty weight" tickets for my Pods, and they're somehow HEAVIER than my "full weight" tickets. The overall incompetence of this company is astounding. The experience has been a nightmare. Still trying to receive my empty weight tickets after calling 3+ times for these, in addition to the 4 times I had to call already for my full weight tickets. Each time I get "I completely understand, please wait up to 72 hours for a specialist to resolve the issue" and I receive no further contact or resolution. In addition, Pods LIED to me about being able to deliver to my new house, and even though they had my stuff for over 2 weeks it still took them forever to even get it to the warehouse near me. The warehouse refused to go more than 50 miles but this information was apparently unknown to the person giving me a quote and at least 1 other customer service rep who said they could deliver to my driveway as promised . On top of that Pods is far more expensive than other option. Avoid at all costs!

Great way to pack some garage & attic boxes while you box up your home. Make sure you have firm commitments on the times you need the Pod to be moved especially if you are selling your home. Not a fan of their scheduling department.
