I recently happened upon a journal entry from our stay there in 2009 and I fell in love with this place, this town and wonderful owners, all over again. I cannot, can not, recommend it enough. 2009Dearest Dan & Candice,I cannot say enough about this place, this home, this weekend nor did I even realize how much it was needed. I can't begin to thank you enough for making it all possible and sharing your home with us.I found myself in Pauls Valley...a place that was nothing more than a glimpse of a Hwy sign as I flew by on my way to some other place. I didn't even know I was lost, missing, disappeared.. with the little worries that nibbled at my fringe, the big worried that bit, that I scratched and picked. My lists of demands and things to do laid like Virginia's stones within my pockets.I found myself this weekend, shaking off the stresses, cares and hurried pace, like dust from old shoes on your doorstep and rediscovering the ease of a smile and the carefree sound of my own laughter.I found myself in a century old home, in its lines, curves and winding stairs...in the history and mystery of stories untold of all the life lived within those walls.I found myself, on brick streets and corner cafe where town folk gather, smile & wave, along the tracks and swaying train, it's whistle calling in the night. I found myself in a small town where life is for living, not rushing through....I found myself in Pauls Valley.Clay & Laura Bailey
