This company is terrible ,my old company before they switched ,if the alarm went off by accident, would call to see if everything is ok and cancel the police, not anymore, call them,go through all the menus, be on hold and by the time you wait, the police show up which is the only good thing about it.

Protection One does not provide good customer service. I had to change my home security service to work through my cell phone since I was eliminating my landline. A few months later a guest accidentally set off the security system and I didn't receive a phone call from the company as I had in the past. I called to check on this and the representative I spoke with was very rude and told me that they didn't show that an alarm had gone off. After this experience I decided to switch my business to another company. I wrote a note canceling my service and included it with my payment. When the service was disconnected, I never heard from anyone at Protection One so I thought this was all taken care of. Then I received another invoice. Now they had to know that the alarm had been disconnected. So I called and was told that my contract required me to call to terminate my service. I replied that they were notified and I had nothing in writing that said that and to please send me a copy. I never heard back until today one year later. I received a letter saying that they have tried to contact me several times and are going to turn this $100 that they say I owe to a collection agency. I have never received any phone calls or other communication from Protection One. I called and the only phone number they had was my old landline that is no longer in service. Now how could they be providing security services to me if they did not even have my cell phone number? The representative told me that the billing department only had the old phone number. Isn't that the company's responsibility to notify billing that there's a change in a customer's contact information? Did they expect me to call their billing department to tell them? I already paid them for an extra month after switching to another service and now they want an additional $100+. Beware of contracting service with Protection One. Deanna Rocha

Moved and called to cancel my account. Was told I had to finish out the contract. OK, that's fine. Called multiple times before the contract was up to try and end the services to no avail. Finally, the contract ends, AND THE SERVICE AUTOMATICALLY RENEWS ON MONTH TO MONTH TERMS, AS IF I HADN'T BEEN TRYING TO CANCEL FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS. Protection1 will screw you over to make a buck, don't waste your time and money.

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY!I would rate 0 stars, but you can't on here.I rarely give out bad reviews, but I have to warn people about this company. I cancelled with them the middle of July. The only reason I cancelled in the 1st place was due to my auto payment coming out double each month for several months. This occured from January of 2020 to June of 2020. I called in to customer service to have charges reversed everytime. I was told the issue was to be escalated to billing, and again the next month my auto payment would come out twice. Finally in June someone in the billing department found the issue. But instead of notifying me, just wrote a note on my account. So my payment amount came out twice again, until I called them and the agent read thr note. After merging with ADT, they had their old system, and a new protection 1/adt system. I got a new credit card with a new number in either December/January I entered the information for auto pay in the old system. When I called in December/ January for some other issue, I was told I needed to update my autopay. So I did. So basically my autopay was entered into 2 different payment systems they have on separate websites.NEXT ISSUE..In my contract I signed when I originally set up services,(over 5 years ago) it stated I have to give 30 days notice and pay my monthly fee for canceling. ?. Also I verbally told them I was cancelling 7/14. The agent I talked to when cancelling said I had to reply to an email she was sending, and give them written notice I was cancelling. I waited for this email.. never received it. Well that email went to my spam box???. I had completely forgotten about this email until I randomly went into my spam box to just delete and review emails b4 permanently deleting them. My services had been disconnected soon after 7/14. I even had a new alarm system with a different company installed. It was 8/10 b4 I replied to this email. I was not only charged that monthly fee for canceling. I was not officially considered cancelled until after they received the email. Even though I verbally told them and my alarm was uninstalled from them soon after 7/14. The 30 day notice didnt start until after 8/10. So I had to pay extra fees on my last bill. I understand how legally they can get away with all this. Its legit...just shaddy.

Had originally signed up with TNT in 2010, then they sold out to ASG, then ASG to Protection 1/ADT. Every time it was sold the service became worse. Recently, I called to upgrade - better the devil you know, you know? So while I was on the phone with sales I was informed somewhere in all these sales I no longer had fire monitoring, which to some may not seem like a big deal unless you have been in a fire. I changed my mind that day and started researching companies to transfer to.So now I have a new alarm system and I get a bill from ADT/P1 because they say it is for a 30 day notice? Notice for what? You are no longer going to be receiving calls from my home - I'm under no contract with you, so you just rip me off 50.00??!! The account manager was unwilling to even knock that in half. I will scream it to the heavens for anyone I know to never go with this company. This is the way they treat a customer of over 10 years, they will screw you from the beginning! Don't go with these people.

originally with TNT. when we cancelled our service due to moving we personally contacted them with our updated address. they already had our current phone and email. rather than send our outstanding balance to us they sent it to collections. absolutely no attempt to reach out to us with our current contact info. we cancelled service three years ago and are just now learning about this. they were extremely unhelpful when called today. stay away from this company.

Company as a whole has gone down hill after several name changes. Organization and communication is failing. However, my tech that was in my home and the CSR I spoke to on the phone were very helpful and convinced me not to cancel my contract. Had it not been for their customer service, I would no longer be with this company.

This company does not honor its agreement. Do not go with this company because they do a switch and bait on pricing. Buyer beware.

This company is a joke. Signed up with ADT 5 years ago on a 2 year contract and protection 1 acquired them a couple years ago. When I signed up I was told that after the 2 years everything would be month to month. They auto renew every year and if you don't cancel 30 days before the renew date then you are locked in. The biggest joke is that you can't call and try to cancel too early either. It has to be in some arbitrary window between 45-60 days. They, somehow, can bind you to this contract yet raise the price while locked in said contract.

Worst company ever they did not state that I have to have a permit for them to dispatch police until my alarm was sounded and I wasn’t there. So pretty much I’m paying for an alarm that doesn’t even benefit me at all. Then they charged twice then what was stated my monthly rate was. So I called to try to get this figured and one of the ladies were so rude to me she even hung up in my face. Not to mention this all happened and I hadn’t even been with them for a full entire month. Now that I want to cancel service and be done with this company they want to charge to leave a contract that has barely even started. If you can get any different alarm I suggest you do that.

My credit card declined for my auto pay and hadn't realized, my fault. But I've been a customer for years and have on autopay so it pays every month. Getting multiple calls every day for $44.00 late balance is ridiculous. I understand they want to be paid and they deserve to be for providing a service, but my life does not revolve around my protection1 account at all, I will get to it, and have updated the card and paid the balance. Then today they call me again to tell me that they see I updated the card, and I'm like ya I know I'm the one who did it, I dont need a phone call telling me what I know I just did. Just asinine in my opinion. Send me emails instead of blowing up my phone for $44.00.

Absolutely do not use this service!! We cancelled months ago, and they still continue to bill us. After 6 months of no correspondence, we received a noticed that our account was in collections after we had cancelled service and paid our final balance months ago. The customer service is terrible with no attempt to resolve issues.
