Not the best school around. The administration seems to think they have a pretty great school. The majority of the staff members don’t have much respect for the students and as a result there isn’t much respect for the teachers. Also way too focused on sports! Do they even have a good football team? They do have a really great French teacher though. Grace Elbon is a wonderful teacher. From my kids personal experience this was just not the best environment for learning.

Thoreau was definitely one of the best schools in Tulsa when former principal Tom Padalino was there. The administrative staff now is horrible, they hang up on you, you can never talk to the manager. Teachers take them all equally, everyone pays for one. When my son explains that he didn't do anything, they don't believe him and why should I believe a stranger (teacher, director) when they tell me that my son is disrupting class, just because they have a title. I will always believe my son over them. I know my son. Teachers get offended by little things, if they talk to friends in class when they are not working on anything, you can't even get up from your seat to throw your trash away.

It's seems to have a good program so far for the children. I have not experienced enough to have details.

To be honest, I didn't like the school. If you don't have your badge or belt, you get detention. The teachers are not nice or helpful. The language is awful there. Too much cussing. You can't wear any jackets from home, You half to buy a 50-90 $ jacket. The kids are irresponsible and ill mannered. Lockers are too small and the TickTock challenges are inappropriate. 1/1,000

My daughter called stating there was an issue with the bus driver coming on time. Somehow the phone got disconnected and it’s been an hour I can’t reach my daughter to see where She is, so I can pick her up. This year has been full of mishaps and miscommunication from teachers and also the school administration. I’m disappointed in the school thinking it was a better choice for my child to attend

I was told if I say anything bad about the school, they will kill me and my family so I'm not going to say anything.

Current principal needs serious re-evaluation. Rules enforced arbitrarily and inconsistently. If you're a Zarrow or Eisenhower family, consider your alternatives: Thoreau's reputation as the "go to" middle school has jumped the shark.

I went here for 6th and half of 7th grade the school is really cool in my opinion the students are nice and out going and if they see a student being bullied they speak up. The lunch was ok i brought my lunch some times but yeah. The teacher's thats a whole new story some are ok and chill like mr childers and Mr.harris but theres some that are not . At thoreau ive always been satisfied but not all the way the schools funding is so bad we have large classes of 30 to 40 the school is low on funding so they cut back on paper when theres things that can be cut back on. The teacher's barley get paid I'd hate to be a teacher not knowing if you can provide gor your family or not. The assistant principle dosent try to understand the student or where they are coming from its just straight to disciple you never really get to say your side of the incident. Very many teachers add on to the situation thats going on blowing it up watching the student get more angry iys like they antagonize you instead of being the bigger person stepping back and letting you cool down. The counselors are ok there was one i could always go to and talk to and she would always listen she would always be the boost of motivation i needed to get threw the day she was down stairs and the other one was upstairs. The other one wouldn't even stop typing at her computer she would barely listen to you. Thoreau is filled with good in bad in my opinion if you go to Thoreau be prepared for a bumpy road ahead and a lot of home work making it threw will not be easy. But some of you guys might know me im Jayjouir Roberts i miss (DTP )

Excellent school. I like the fact that the school has a strict set of guidelines to follow. The principal is excellent. My son enjoys the school thoroughly and has never had an issue at all.
