“PO #348 Holdenville first opened on May 24, 1895. The current brick post office building was constructed in 1935 using federal Treasury Department funds. The facility is officially designated as the Boone Pickens Post Office, named in honor of the legendary Texas oilman and entrepreneur T. Boone Pickens, who was born in Holdenville in 1928”
“The old Wewoka Post Office built in 1935 still used today. It also has one of the WPA art project paint and hung in 1941. The oil-on-canvas mural, entitled “Historical Background of Wewoka,” was completed by Marjorie Clarke. It looks in good shape for it's age. The people here do a great job.”
