“As far as VVs go, this is probably one of the best in terms of cleanliness, spaciousness, variety, and price. I only dock one star because of head office policies / pricing, and not because of this particular location. Not sure why CDs have suddenly gone from 1.99 to 3.99 and up overnight, for example, but okay. I've been shopping at this particular location for years, and the staff is super nice. Saying that, I'd really like to kidnap that beautiful coniferous tree out front and show it some love.”
“Have worked with two different therapists to this day and so far they have been helpful when it comes to my past poor experiences at other mental health areas in the Durham Region.”
“my review name is an alias!
honestly this shelter was the only impactful and structured environment for me throughout my journeys of finding stable housing. the staff were generally very supportive and attentive, offering aid with the daily housing tasks and other chores and household needs.
meals were not too barebones, and they did offer second helpings if you needed, or alternative snacks.
if you want to bring your green ( wink wink ) don’t even think about it ; it’s a dry house which is so incredibly important for us youth. it helps mitigate addiction, despite how awful it is during that period.
downsides are having to share rooms and/or bathroom spaces but other than it it isn’t awful. i haven’t seen bedbugs or other insects. the occasional housefly sure but that’s common.
staff will help you with finding stable housing, obtaining certain key items or programs for housewarming and celebrate your journey as you move along. you should be nice to them!!!!! they will enforce their rules and procedures but it isn’t against you; it’s the nature of the program. the only enemy you have is yourself at this point in the journey, learn some things about you while you can.
i hope others find this shelter as helpful as i do, in your transitional period. thank you :)”
