I really appreciate the hard work and effort the rescuers and teams put into their job and community. The work is incredibly valuable, and I'm grateful for them all.
However, I recently had a negative experience with the adoption process team. I had applied for an adoptable rabbit who had been moved around and in a petsmart cage for a couple of months. After reaching out to the location and hearing about his struggle finding a long-term home , I decided to make a commitment.
I currently have another young rabbit awaiting his neuter surgery and vaccinations (would not be in contact with said rabbit) and decided it was worth making the jump and slowly introducing them over a few months.
I filled in the application and have a specialized exotic vet who confirmed that my introduction would be smooth, slow, and safe.
I received a rejection (which is understandable, and I'm happy to see that they were being so careful) because they both were not neutered. However, the email was quite passive-aggressive. There were no questions or follow-ups - it warned me about the likelihood of dumping in these cases. Which felt unnecessarily rude to mention to someone who had rescued a rabbit who was dumped at only 3 weeks old. There was a warning about territorial aggression and spraying - which, as a rabbit owner for over 10 years, I understood the risk of.
The only reason I went ahead before the rabbits were neutered to adopt was because of the condition the adoptable rabbit was in. I had considered this and planned for two completely separate places for them both to reside until they were able to meet.
I completely understand the importance of being thorough and vetting everyone to ensure long-term success. However, being passive-aggressive to a potential adopter who clearly wants to adopt and be a part of solution and not the problem is not helpful.
I understand that bad faith actors show up constantly, and a single application doesn't capture the essence of an adopter. Personally, I believe it's important to uplift those who care enough to rescue and create a community of supporters.

Just adopted the most incredible cat from here. My wife and I could not be happier. The description of her they posted online was 100% accurate, and has been a helpful reminder of what to expect from our new family member. Highly recommend for anyone looking to adopt.

I recently had to rehome my beautiful male cat, and it was extremely difficult. I had gone back and forth with the decision but ultimately it ended with me needing to surrender him. I want to recognize the support I had from Nicole, who lovingly and kindly spoke with me and kept emailing me and was even there when we came in with our boy. She doesn't know it, but her kind nature made me feel at ease with leaving him there. Although I was heartbroken I want to show my appreciation to Nicole and the other staff members that work there and everything they do for all animals. If we are ever in the market for a fur baby again we will be reaching out to the brampton animal shelter. Thank you for all your help ❤️

Unethical decision making. Don't trust this animal shelter with lost pets. We talked to police about giving back a lost dog to a woman who claimed the dog was theirs. She turned out to have multiple charges of rental fraud and she even had already sold the dog to a different owner but insisted she should have the dog back. We took the police’s advice to give it to the shelter. The shelter ended up giving it back to the illegal breeder. I strongly recommend giving lost pets to a different shelter.

Went in to register my newest dog. Ended up buying tshirts and donating to the Hope Fund. Love the renovation the place looks great. The staff were wonderful and helpful. May even adopt a new kitten. (If my other pets agree)

This shelter is a killing lab! Little baby chihuahua died in this shelter and many many dogs dying there! Shelter follows protocol: they jab all dogs with rabies vax as 10 lb dog gets the same amount of vax as a 100 lb dog plus unnecessary neuter surgery! And if the dog was vaccinated not long time before he/she got to the shelter ,shelter will vax dog again Over dose ! ITS A KILLING FACILITY
