No cashiers were working this morning, so I had to use self check out for a full cart of groceries and struggle to bag it all. This isn't exactly a discount grocery store, so I expect better service.

Bought ground beef, and a god damn insect came out of it while I was cooking. I haven't eaten ground beef in months because of this. I should have left this review immediately afterwards but I was so disgusted I didn't know what to do. I just immediately dumped the pan and didn't eat dinner that night. I'm finally starting to feel okay about meat again (from anywhere other than here) and I'm coming to realize just how terrible this was.
Do NOT buy the meat this location produces. If you insist on buying meat here, only buy sealed meat from brands you know and trust. I can't imagine how absolutely disgusting they have to be behind the counter for this to happen.

Don’t not buy chicken from here ever I don’t k ow what they do in this store but the chicken smells terrible even if the BBD is two days out . Absolute garbage

VERY unpleasant shopping experience today with "Natalie" at the customer service checkout (senior lady with a slight eastern European accent). She told me "one coupon per purchase" means you can only use one coupon period. Coupon clearly stated one per purchase (NOT one per customer, NOT one per transaction)... I had 6 items and 6 coupons - one coupon for each.
This is about as basic as it gets. Anybody can google this if they are confused, it means you can't use multiple coupons against a single item. A purchase = you are purchasing that single item. This is something EVERY coupon in Canada states. Every cashier knows this, and I've never had a problem until today.
Ordinarily I would have let this go and just gone to another more competent cashier, sometimes it happens there is a new or uninformed employee, but her attitude and demeanor came across as mildly condescending and unprofessional. Not intending to be disrespectful I asked for a supervisor. The acting manager at the time (on Tuesday September 10 at around 4:35 PM - not the store manager, Doug is a great guy) came over and agreed with her! WOW. It's one thing if an employee is wrong, but senior management failing at reading comprehension as well? Unacceptable. Sobeys, you need to train your staff better and perhaps send some people back to school for reading comprehension lessons.
I ended up putting everything back and walking out. I'm a regular customer and have spent thousands at this location even though it's by no means the best value - but if this is how I can expect to be treated, I have no issue taking my business down the road where prices are better and cashiers are competent. The store is otherwise clean and there are some great and helpful folks working there, sadly that can't be said for everybody
On a side note, shout out to the Deli manager dude - you rock! and even Mike the stock guy - you come across as grumpy and you're a Leafs fan (BOOO!) but you do a great job filling the shelves that I come in and empty, so thank you!.

I have bad shopping experiences here. when you check out at the counter, Cashier put a different price for the item when compared with the labeled price. For an instance 40 pack water bottles, Milk, etc..
I faced the same issue several times, and they agreed to give me a refund. but I had to waste my time.
So please make sure your bill is correct before you leave the place.

This evening, I purchased haddock and potato wedges for dinner for my Mom & I.
The meal was not good at all. The potato wedges were dry, and had a"woody" texture. The haddock, although hot, had very little taste to it.
This was a huge disappointment for us.

The attendant in the wine section followed me and my fiancee around. For context, we are both in our 30s and know what we like. When we started browsing, we said we did not want a sample and that we were looking. When we went around to the aisle behind the attendant to find more of the 0% sugar wine we like, he asked again if we wanted a sample, and once again, we said no. Not when one of us is driving and it’s midday! He then saw the wine we were selecting and said “Oh, that’s 0% sugar!” as if we wouldn’t be interested. When we told him we like it, he replied “Just so you know, you’ll have to show ID at the front.”
It was clear then, that all of the pestering was because he assumed we were underage. No, we are just youthful because we are gay. Get some sensitivity training, stop profiling based on appearance, and don’t harass of-age women when they try to spend their hard-earned money in store!

The second time going to this store, there was a promo very good prices. The asociate was more than willing to get me the product from the back when asked since freezer was empty.I was impressed and greatful.

No complaint about the store at all, can usually find what I’m looking for and they will have things that other stores do not.
I had a negative experience at the checkout, the cashiers name is Angel and was quite rude telling me I was doing it wrong, even if I was there is no need to be rude and nasty, most times employees are very friendly and helpful at the Shellard Lane location. Maybe a little chat with Angel would be helpful. Very bad attitude.

Don't even bother going to this store!!! Store manager is very unprofessional, he was extremely rude to my elder mother. Save your money and go somewhere else. Support stores that actually are kind to our elders.
