Great store however cashier named matteo had a terrible attitude. When my grandmother nicely asked for help packing her groceries after purchasing a bag he rudely said “that’s not my job”. Still leaving 3 stars as everyone else has always been good to me and my grandmother.

This is a nice Food Basics located in the city of Burlington, by the Lakeshore road. The store is very clean and organized well. The interior looks soothing. You will always find good deals in Food Basics. I was looking for eggnog and this store had them. The staff working there were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this grocery store.

I’d like to share some feedback regarding my recent experience at your store. At one of the checkout counters, a woman wearing a niqab was working, and I was informed that she could not handle alcohol due to her religious beliefs. While I fully respect religious accommodations, I was surprised that this limitation directly impacted the service I received, as I had to be redirected to another register.
I believe all customers should receive consistent service at any checkout counter, regardless of who is working. If certain products cannot be handled at specific registers, I would suggest clear signage or another solution that doesn’t inconvenience customers.
I am raising this not out of disrespect, but because I believe that when someone is hired to perform a public-facing role, their responsibilities should be clearly aligned with customer expectations. I would appreciate it if this feedback could be passed along to senior management.

I had a horrible experience where I was refused to be served and asked to go to a different cashier because I had ONE beer can in my cart. I had to wait in line again and wasted around 15 minutes just because of this! How are the cashiers personal or religious beliefs applicable to customers? I bought an item the store was SELLING! this is so discriminating! If you have these types of laws either have self served checkouts!

Here on a Saturday morning and they are fresh out of most produce. No bananas or spinach - really? On a Saturday? They’re clearly trying to get this place to fall off the map with the new burloak location. Don’t waste your time, go to a legit store that has the bare essentials.
