Incredible service!!

You’ll get better service from a busy Mc’Donalds that’s understaffed!
I recently visited this location and was unfortunately “assisted” by someone who redefined the word unprofessional — a sales rep named Quin. I’ve been a loyal client of the brand for over six years, always shopping at the Yorkdale location where I’ve consistently experienced exceptional service. This encounter, however, was so jarring and dismissive that if it weren’t for my longstanding loyalty to the brand and my incredible advisor at Yorkdale, I would seriously consider never shopping with this company again.
I entered the (unsurprisingly empty) store on a busy Saturday afternoon to return a gift I had purchased just days earlier — tags on, unworn, still beautifully gift-wrapped. I patiently waited for assistance. When Quin finally approached, she made it instantly clear that helping a customer was the last thing she wanted to be doing. I greeted her politely and even asked about her day. Her response? Cold, curt, and followed by an uncomfortable silence as she scanned me from head to toe with a glare.
I explained I’d like to make a return. Without saying anything overtly rude, her facial expressions and body language made it clear I was unwelcome. She refused to touch the boxes and made me pass each item to her directly — odd, but I let it go. The real issue began when she inspected the items with the intensity of an airport customs agent and audibly sighed when she saw the receipt was from the Yorkdale store. Her demeanor shifted entirely when I mentioned the name of my advisor — a woman I’ve worked with for years. Her expression turned icy, and she made several passive-aggressive remarks about the other location and my advisor.
Despite this incredibly uncomfortable interaction, I stayed calm. Quin reluctantly processed the return, then abruptly demanded to examine the Amex I used for the purchase. Still odd, but I complied. As I was reviewing the receipt, I noticed she had forgotten to include a small polishing kit in the return. When I kindly pointed it out, her reaction was nothing short of explosive. She snapped at me, saying I should have “done X, Y, and Z,” and that I should “return it to your precious [advisor’s name]” — yes, that’s a direct quote. She went on a tirade, muttering more unkind things I won’t repeat, then told me to leave the store and refused to process the return, dismissing it with a snide, “it costs less than a sandwich.”
I don’t know what Quin’s issue was that day — whether she was hungry, under-caffeinated, or simply doesn’t enjoy her job — but that does not excuse such condescending and hostile behavior. As a former sales professional and retail operations manager, I was stunned by the lack of basic courtesy, let alone brand alignment.
To be treated this poorly — as though I needed to earn the right to be treated with even the most basic decency — was appalling. This experience goes against everything I’ve known the brand to represent. No client, new or old, should be made to feel like an inconvenience for simply walking through the door.
To anyone reading this: do yourself a favor and visit the Yorkdale location instead. I’ve had positive experiences with every staff member there, and my advisor continues to exemplify everything luxury service should be — warm, knowledgeable, and professional. This other location, however, should be avoided at all costs if you value respectful, human interaction or hope to experience the brand in a way that actually reflects its reputation

On February 26, 2025, after a visit from the extremely poor customer service received at the Bramalea location, May was very helpful for my situation. Knowledgeable, kind and lovely to described her. Would recommend this location and dealing with her exclusively for your jewelry needs. Would highly recommend this location.

The vaughan mills michael hills location is an absolute disgrace in comparison to other michael hills locations in the GTA. I knew what I was going to walk into, because, I looked up the reviews before I walked in. So when I had terrible service upon arrival, I was not completely surprised. It started when we walked in. It took a while for people to acknowledge our presence. When we were finally greeted, I told the sales rep, I had bought another watch at another location and needed it sized. The sales rep immediately asks, why didn’t you get a care plan? I said, I was never offered one, plus, didn’t know I needed one to be able to simply size a watch bought from another michael hills location. She then comes at me in a blaming manner, and says its not too late to purchase one, but, you will have to pay to size. When I heard this, I obviously thought it was completely absurd. I knew what this rep was saying made no logical sense. So I was hesitant to even stay in the store any longer. She then comes with another sales rep, and that rep says, no its free. And i’m like okay, your friend here says I need to pay. Whatever, I let it slide. She then asks me the links for sizing. Well because it was a bday gift, I didn’t have the person with me, so I brought another watch that I had to help size. This rep then has an agressive attitude and says, “I need to know the size.” To which we gave an estimate. She then says, okay, you have to leave your watch with us for 3 weeks because we have to ship it out to size. First off, I would never trust these sales reps with my watch just based off the interaction I had with them. They seem like the type to replace a new watch with a defective one. And second, I mentioned it was a bday gift for someone who’s bday was that day. I could not wait 3 weeks plus, it sounds absurd that they could not size in store. By the end of it, I was frustrated and said I was going to get it done somewhere else. And I in fact did, at another watch store in Vaughan Mills, free of charge. And the best part, this watch store had amazing service and it only took 2 minutes to do. The Michael Hills Vaughan Mills location should be ashamed of themselves. And a word to the manager, please hire competent staff. At-least, hire people with mannerisms that know how to treat people with respect! I do not reccomend this store. If you need to go to a Michael Hills location, DO NOT go to the Vaughan Mills location!

I came in asking if they had earrings for my 8 month old baby as a first time mom who knows nothing about baby jewelry I asked for assistance. I was given 2 options and went with a small hoop ($112). When I got home to put them on my baby to our surprise the needle was too thick for her little piercing hole. I tried to return but because of policy, I couldn’t get an exchange or return. Honestly, the policy is understandable. I’m not even upset at the policy. What makes me upset is that I asked for help, I expressed my little understanding with baby jewelry and asked for options and was given the incorrect information. I don’t know if it was lack of knowledge or just to make the sale of commission but it’s very upsetting & unfair that I have lost money and am left with no options when I trusted someone who is supposed to have experience to give the right info and options.

Was just gifted a solid gold bangle the “Hammer Set Bangle With 0.15 Carat TW Diamonds In 10kt Yellow Gold” which was purchased from Michael Hill at Vaughn Mills and I am utterly disgusted by the defect on the bangle. A complete guage where it practically hurt my skin and cracking through the gold. Have never in my life experienced such distasteful experience with jewelry.Have no trust in what Michael Hill offers anymore. Have to still call the store and see what they say…

We tried to return an unworn ring when we found out that unbeknownst to us, we had bought it scratched. There is no policy for them to inspect the ring and to document the state that it was sold, so when we went to return it, they refused and accused us of trying to return a worn ring. We had bought the display ring and discussed this with the manager, who continued to deny that the ring could have had scratches despite being tried on by anyone who walked into the store.Overall, the salespeople are pushy and though they may sell an easy return policy, they will find any way to make sure you aren’t able to return it. Would not recommend purchasing any product from here unless you are 100% sure you won’t be returning it, or if you’re okay with being sold a scratched item.Addendum to this review: it has now been a week and no one has responded to the complaint I lodged in response to the comment below. I had lodged another complaint privately with the head office and was ultimately told there was nothing they could do. Avoid Michael hill, save yourself the money and a headache.

I recently purchased a diamond necklace valued at nearly $3000 from the Michael Hill store in Vaughan Mills. The piece I initially chose was a beautifully shiny diamond, exactly what you would expect. The salesperson offered to clean the necklace before handing it over to me. They took it to a back room, and a few minutes later, they returned it, boxed and ready to go. However, they did not show me the necklace again before I left the store.Trusting their service, I took the necklace home, only to discover that it appeared to be a different, inferior item. The diamond seemed milky and lacked the luster of the one I had selected in the store, and there was noticeable rust on the necklace - a clear sign that this was not the piece I had chosen.Feeling disappointed and concerned, I took the necklace to another Michael Hill location, this time at Hill Crest. Here, I must commend the manager and the team for their exceptional service. They addressed the issue professionally and replaced the necklace with a brand-new one that matched my original selection. This experience left me wary of the Vaughan Mills store. If such a mix-up happened to me, it could happen to others. I would advise future customers to be cautious, particularly regarding the items and service at this location. There's a possibility that the store might inadvertently or otherwise switch your selected item for a lesser one.Huge thanks to the Hill Crest store for their support and for restoring my faith in Michael Hill's quality and customer service.

I received very good assistance for a ring I had been eyeing on their website. They helped me try multiple designs and sizes before I finalised mine. There was only 1 SKU available of that style in the entire Michael Hill network of stores in Canada and they helped me get it in a week’s time.

Worst location. Their manager decides what days they want to do returns. You have to fight with the staff to get anything done. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else
