Food basics has music playing and advertisements promoting the fact that they are the lowest prices in Ontario. But that's not true of course, we all know that. There are some things that are lower price but most of the time if you buy the multi-purchase at walmart, two or more of the same item, Walmart gives you a discount. Food basics should following the same idea, buy more than one and get a discount.
Also they had extra lean ground beef on sale which was great, but they had no stock, it was all sold within a couple of hours. Told us to get a rain check but when you went to the counter they said no rain checks allowed, so they should really educate the staff when it comes to super sale price on a particular items.
Went on two different occasions, in the afternoon and both times, the extra lean ground beef was all sold out.
They should not promote amazing sale price and then not have stock.
Overall, it's your typical grocery store.

Always insanely busy. Most of the cashiers are efficient and friendly (ish) lol
Well stocked and the associates are always willing to help find any items you're looking for.

They're going to make somebody sick. The freezer for the frozen chicken is routinely breaking and several visits now I've come in to find actual thawed product. I've alerted staff but its a frequent issue at this location.
I understand things cost money, but if you don't replace your freezer units, you're going to hurt your customers. I'm sure product isn't being thrown out as it should be, and is instead being refrozen and resold despite being dangerous to do so.

Great store except for Vachon Jos Louis sponge cakes. $4.45 a box is price gouging. The store 200 feet away charges $3.00 per box.
