You might want to think twice before hiring Home Depot to undertake home renovations for you.
Here is my story.
Fifteen months ago (in August 2023), I hired Home Depot to install windows to qualify for the Canada Greener Homes Program's $31,000 interest-free loan and $3,000 in grants. They assured me that the windows would meet the required Energy Efficiency (ER) rating of 34, and even committed in writing that all windows would range from 35 to 36. However, after installation, they provided documentation showing the windows only had an ER value of 33.
This disqualifies me from the federal program, which is ending soon and requires final documents to be submitted in a few weeks. As a result, I face nearly $19,000 in interest payments to Scotia Bank over the next ten years, which I could have avoided with the program's interest-free loan. Home Depot offered $2,300 as compensation if I signed a legal indemnity form, which doesn’t cover my losses. I declined and informed them I would be hiring a lawyer.
Additionally, the installation was contractually supposed to begin within 12 to 14 weeks of signing the contract in August 2023, but it didn't start until May 2024 and wasn't finished until September 2024.
Home Depot suggested that I have my lawyer send documents to their North York, Ontario office.

There's a guy working with all the tattoos on his neck yelled at me because I didn't know what type of siding I needed just name of the siding it which is not written on the pieces or the scan code. I figured he would know because he works here. Well I walked away he proceded to continue to yell at me after I went back to my cart to purchase the other things I needed. Very unprofessional and very abusive 👎👎

Helped a friend but a washing machine on Sept 6,2024 around 1pm-1:30pm and we had the best customer service we could have asked for!! We were there for over an hour making our decision. While there we were served by three wonderful employees first by a woman with red curly shoulder length hair(sorry I didn't get your name), then Dave and finally by the five star Len!! They answered all our questions were very patient with us. And put up with my jokes. Great customer service I would highly recommend this store for any appliance shopping you have

After completing a house full of renovations, inside and out, we can safely say Home Depot Cornwall is the best. Whether picking specific materials and needing advice, getting lumber cut, having to make returns, renting trucks or quickly checking out to get back to work, everyone was extremely helpful. We often had to complete these tasks with either 1 or all 3 of our children with us and the employees here were all so great with them, making them laugh and including them in the conversation, all while getting us what we need and on our way promptly. Very grateful for the great service and family feel.

Needed to buy a piece of plywood and have it cut. Sales guy was helpful, made sure i was satifyed with the piece from the pile, and he took it to the cutting saw for me and made the cuts exactly how I wanted them. Unfortunately the saw's 'calibration' was off, but he compensated appropriately to make the right cuts. (The store should get the saw fixed).

Can’t even get anyone on the phone for information. Tried calling 5 times and never got one person. Every phone call I stayed 20 minutes in the phone while the system was trying to reach someone. Very unprofessional and incompetent business.
