My teenager and his friend had the most amazing time doing outdoor climbing in Elora with Fredrick. The location was perfect and allowed my wife and I to watch, take pictures, and chat. Fredrick is focused on safety, having fun, and teaching proper technique while also entertaining us with many great stories of his adventures. We highly recommend this activity and will absolutely be booking more adventures with One Axe in the future!

One Axe was AN EXPERIENCE. Frederick was a wonderful instructor, always made us feel safe, and has a such a wealth of knowledge and experience. Our morning of repelling and zip lining was a unique experience and one I’ll always remember. If you’re in Elora, this is a must!

Such a fun/creative idea. One Axe worked with our group and our needs and completely customized a race that worked within our timeframe. A wonderful way for team building.

Just attended the premiere of One Axe Pursuit’s must-see and award-winning documentary “Carrying a Dream - Peru,” a brilliant and heartfelt story of Jason Dekorte‘s life-long dream of trekking to remote areas of Peru. Jason’s authenticity, passion and wit fuel this lovely story. Beautifully filmed by and co-starring Frederick Schuett, Jason’s friend and guide. You will walk away feeling moved and immensely inspired by this film. Congrats to all involved!

Outstanding instruction! I've done many courses with One Axe over the years. They've always been awesome. Took my son to learn some rappelling skills in advance of our trip out to BC. From booking to the personalized instruction, everything was absolutely great. Very much appreciate the emphasis on safety.

Highly recommend one axe for all things adventures! Had the opportunity to try out ice climbing this past weekend and it was such a blast! It was all of our first times ice climbing and we felt super safe and challenged at the same time. The team at One Axe (Fred, Christa and Patrick) is supportive, friendly, instructive and a lot of fun! They provided all the equipment, a short belay lesson, and lots of advice and encouragement along the way. We were there from 10-4 and it felt like time was flying by! Would love to go out there again and do more :)

Came with a group of 12 and it was so fun, safe, and approachable. We varied from beginner (no climb experience) to rock-climb experienced — they were so good at catching which skills in general we could work on to make it easier ?

Just tried their ice climbing experience last week and I'd highly recommend it! As someone whose done indoor climbing less than 10 times (auto belay) and outdoor climbing once, I wanted to venture into a beginner ice climbing adventure. What I liked most about One Axe Pursuits was their communication, and attention to safety without minimizing the fun factor. For instance, they were able to answer a lot of my questions prior to the booking and even gave helpful tips on what gear to buy and what wasn't needed. And when the weather was too warm one weekend, I easily had the option to cancel for a refund or reschedule. I never once felt pressure to have to reschedule or like getting my money back would be hard. When my friend and I actually went ice climbing, there was about 30-40 mins of instruction from Frederick, the lead guide and preparations to gear up before heading down to the wall. And then Patrick was the other staff member who was on site with my friend and I to ensure the knots on our harnesses were tied properly every time, but he also helped us remove slack from the rope while belaying (which was necessary since my friend and I were beginners) and I also really appreciated the ground anchor as an added safety measure to mitigate weight differences between climber and belayer. In short, my friend and I never once felt like we could fall and could simply focus on having a good time and climbing. I think Patrick and Frederick's passion and enthusiasm for not just climbing but teaching really came through and made the experience. Just note that while the meeting time is 10am, you'll be climbing by like 11am so my advice would be to ensure you eat breakfast that morning of and have a light lunch/snack at 10:30am during the training otherwise you'll be like my friend who skipped breakfast to not eat until 2pm lol.
