It was a fantastic shop, and the owner was extremely kind and helpful. He was willing to teach and assist my daughter on various occasions: exceptional experience and a must-see in electronics.

To help you out, this place is not a big box corporate electronics store, This is a great mom and great Pop store, when I say great I mean grand. The inventory is for hard to find items, items that electronic people might want or need, new in box old stock and even more used and salvage stuff, vintage and out of production components, retro is a good way to describe it but they do have new stuff in stock or can find and order it for you at a price. My advice is to go into the store and look around for what you need or to find amazing one off gems. Ask for help if you must but if you know exactly what you want and it's current and advailable elseware don't bother them. Most importantly if you are a tinkerer, Maker, if you know what components can be swaped for others, if you invent, create, repair or are really in a hurry there is no better place in the GTA.

These people are total scammers. I placed an order online via PayPal and the paypal order went through but this company did not send me any type of order confrimation. Then a few minutes later I get an email from PayPal stating that they charged me an addtional invoice fee. I submitted a scam report about this addtion charge and emailed the company. They responded with " you live far away and we need more money". Total Asian scam. They had my address from PayPal and knew right from the first where they had to ship to and it was automattically calculated via my location. They didnt' even tell me that they were requesting more money. They just charged my PayPal account and were hoping I wouldn't notice. I also requested to cancel my entire order (same day it was placed) and they ignored my request. Had to put in a second PayPal dispute against them to get my money back. The case will end in a week.Total waste of time and untrustworthy company. Caution! Do not place an online order or trust these jokers!!

***** ******** charging random ****** payments. I placed an order online via ******. the payment went through even though they did not confirm my online order was received. I then got another random ****** notice of a second payment to them. I have no idea what the second charge was for and disputed it as a **** with ******.\nI contacted this ***** company and they said that I live far away so they need more money to ship to me even though it was automatically calculated when I checked out my order on their website. They had my address from ******. So why are they wanting more money? ***** ****.\nI told them to cancel my entire order and they did not respond. I had to file a ***** complaint with ****** against them to get my money back.

Amazing place, filled with so much to find and discover! The store is somewhat organized, but you can find different things in all sorts of places. It feels like a treasure hunt! There's so much cool old stuff there, and new things as well. Stuff is reasonably priced, and if you can't find something in the store, the owner can show you exactly where it is! He knows the place like the back of his hand. All in all, It's PERFECT for an electronics hobbyists like me.

Store is poorly organised, limited selection and they keep a lot of stuff behind the counter that most electronics stores would have on the open shelves. The lady running the place was rude and pushy. The one upside is that it's a good place for scavengers but that's about it.

If I could only rate this place with a ZERO. I ordered a bunch of CMOSintegrated circuits and almost all of them were shipped in the wrongtype of plastic tube. CMOS needs to be shipped in ANTISTATIC tubesto prevent them from being damaged. Glen insists that they wereantistatic tubes. As a result the product is going in the garbage andI will never deal with this place again. If you want quality parts order themfrom Digi-Key, the prices are a little higher but the parts are shiiped in the right manner and you receive them overnight!

Wow. Astounding the amount of stuff available here. Just unbelievable. As an electronics guy since the late 70's I still find it incredible... almost. I thought the guy on Caledonia years and years ago was the cat's a$$ for everything and anything... but this is just ... wow. Good job.

It's an ok a place to look for old electronic parts. The person at the front is annoying and grumpy. He probably doesn't care about customers wanting to look for parts. Plus they are still requiring masks, which is ridiculous

Needed a few fuses for speakers. Web site said $0.65 each. I picked up 6. Very friendly manager and efficient service. My only regret is that it seems they only offer pickup or delivery service - no browsing all the neat stuff they have in the warehouse. I guess this is still a lingering effect of the COVID days. Hopefully they'll fully open up soon.

I went to A1 in search of hard to find transistors for repairing a friend's stereo receiver. Glen helped me cross-reference to find suitable substitutes, and the prices were surpisingly satisfying. I'll always go back, when in need of electronic parts. Friendly service, with a few jokes added in.

I took in the hobby of opening up electronics and finding what makes it tick, trying to repair or . this place has given me the chance to let my brain explore. he had almost everything I wanted to see in person. if you are like me and like to modify or repair or even build electronic devices yourself. this place will have it and if not, you will find something very cool. wish I was closer. will be back today for my 4th time now. alfa always support locals first

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! I biked all the way from downtown to browse and pick up a few bits for a project. Front of the store is locked down and owner creepily watches you on camera and speaks from somewhere out of view. I was rudely questioned about not wearing a mask, for which I saw no sign. I don't have a problem wearing a mask but I simply didn't have one. No masks were provided and since I was on my bike, I didn't "have one in the car". I was refused entry and the owner demanded that I tell him what part I wanted. I wanted many parts, and to browse - sorry but it doesn't work that way - it's a surplus store!I'd only go back to this place as a last resort and only on a weekend when the owner is not there. I'm only saying this because I recently saw The Whale and some people got crap in their life and take it out on others and don't know how to control their behaviour, like this owner. The old Active Surplus (from Queen Street) has started up again under the name The Gorilla Store which is worth checkout out. They are located on College Street west of Bathurst.
