This review is for customer service in general for Mastermind. I order a karaoke party ball online that we love, it suddenly stopped working, I contacted master mind by email, they replied the next day with the option for a replacement and to send a video, but the offered a replacement before even seeing the video without doubting me! This is what makes customer service great and makes customers come back to shop from this place.I have always shopped master mind and will definitely always do to support family owned small businesses, the great selection of things and the wonderful customer service! We need more of these stores!

Biggest scam with gift cards. Tell everyone you know not to shop here. Found out last minute about expiring gift cards so I went to use it online on Christmas Eve and wasn’t allowed to use it. The gift card said it can be used online but they didn’t let me. Please boycott these stores!!!

I went to pick up an online order and was politely directed to the employee at the wrapping station. When I arrived at the desk, the employee was not assisting anyone or wrapping a gift. She did not stop what she was doing and instead made me wait without greeting me or asking for my patience while she finished her binder task. It was fine and I wasn’t put off at that time. A little annoyed that she didn’t look up or acknowledge me but nonetheless I waited patiently. When she finished the binder task she was doing, I said I’m here for an online order and she said one second and proceeded to do something else for a gift wrap order and then left the desk with me waiting there. I thought it was odd but gave them the benefit of the doubt considering it’s holiday season and later in the day, again not my responsibility but I’m patient in general so I just let it happen. After checking my ID, she had me sign off on the order pick up. All good. She then proceeds to say, just so you know, your order is non-refundable. Full stop. I couldn’t deny to myself at this point that I was experiencing race discrimination. I’m a member at the store and have spend thousands of dollars on gifts over the years as my oldest is now attending Uni. I’ve never been reminded of return policies, it was so weird. I once had a long conversation with a regional representative who goes to all the stores across the country monitoring displays and store performance. She was a delight and I was terribly saddened to be treated with racial bias. I treated that person with the utmost respect and am horribly disappointed that anyone working at Masterminds would not be enthusiastic in dealing with a polite customer. I shopped online for the convenience it’s supposed to provide. I didn’t appreciate being given a hard time and then lied to about return policies. I’ve returned duplicate items and exchanged with ease before. I won’t stop going there because everyone has always been so helpful and kind. I’m pretty sure her name was Mary but I can’t be sure. I’m sure there’s record of who was where on that day but some people need to do better. November 28, 2023 5PM

Upon I walk in, I expect happy shopping time, but no one greet me nice. I have questions about toys, so I go to the lady Mary, hoping for help. But she no care at all! Like helping customers beneath her, and her phone more important! She answers rushed and not helpful, makes me wonder why she pretend to care. I feel like I bother her, and I not valued customer. And that not all! Finding toys like escaping maze, and when I ask her for help, she no give useful details, just vague and uninterested. When I finally leave the store. I hope to find special toys for my grandchildren, but thanks to her bad attitude, that hope gone. Store supposed to be fun, but not pleasant lady ruin everything. Thank you for the "service" mastermind Toys.

Our son received three of the same toys for his birthday. My wife tried to return two of the toys for a store credit to buy something else (something that she has done on other occasions including a few months ago). The store is now enforcing a policy where they will not accept returns unless you have a receipt which was not their policy previously and is not in line with what their competitors do. It is a shame because we were avid shoppers at Mastermind for years. If you do shop here, please be sure to ask for a gift receipt.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mastermind Toys, and I cannot express enough how delighted I was with the entire experience. From the moment I stepped foot into the store until the moment I left, every aspect was exceptional. And I want to give a special shout-out to Victoria for her outstanding service!First and foremost, the store itself is a treasure trove of joy for both kids and adults alike. I felt like a kid again, with the added bonus of having the knowledge and wisdom of adulthood to guide me through my choices. Now, let's talk about Victoria. From the moment I approached her with a question about a particular toy, her warm smile and genuine enthusiasm were contagious. She greeted me with a cheerful hello and immediately offered her assistance. Victoria's product knowledge was truly impressive. She guided me through the aisles, highlighting various toys, their features, and the educational benefits they provided. Her passion for toys and her dedication to helping customers find the perfect match was evident in every word she spoke. What impressed me the most was how effortlessly she engaged my children in conversation, making them feel like valued customers also. Her patience and attentiveness were remarkable, ensuring that we found toys that matched their interests and developmental stages. She went above and beyond by offering valuable recommendations, taking into account the age appropriateness, durability, and learning potential of each item. Would give 0 stars if available. I do not even know where to start. Whoever is in charge of hiring the staff, needs to seriously reconsider who they allow to work at Mastermind. I used to shop at this location for years, and when I came to return an item which was only ONE DAY late from the 30 day return mark, they refused. Gina was extremely rude and down right disrespectful to me, after only asking if I could return it, since it was only a day late. She gave no solutions and 0 help, which is the opposite of what you should be doing when working in customer service. After, I explained the situation, she told me there is nothing that she could do for me, HOWEVER, when I took my receipt to the Hurontario location, they processed the return with no issue. The lack of understanding and inconsistent rules at Mastermind Etobicoke by the managerial staff is seriously disappointing. Thank you!

Emily is absolutely amazing! During the Christmas season my daughter wanted a Lego set but it was out of stock. My daughter wanted this a week before Christmas of course and we couldn’t get it. I asked Emily to please let me know when it was available. I was surprised to hear that she still remembered me when she called. Thank you Emily for calling me! You are the best! ? My daughter loved it!

It used to be good. Now a terrible place just for older folks I guess. They took away any toys for kids to play meanwhile other stores like Toys ‘r us and Lego store have stepped up their kid friendly experience. Also hour so short. Don’t recommend it.

Wonderful friendly staff, first time at this location and have nothing negative to say. Clean store easy to navigate, sale signs very clear and easy to see. Will be back!

It’s a good toystore but prices are often higher than Amazon and the time it takes to get to a cashier is surprising despite how many people are working at this location. If my kids didn’t like shopping for toys in person I’d probably not come here nearly as often.
