The bakery was sooooo good. I like that they have different stalls for different hot foods as well as a coffee shop.

I like grocery stores. It comes from grocery shopping with my mom as a kid. Sure, it's a part of life and is much needed. I always felt that they were cool places to spend time looking at a ton of products that make me curious and happy. I needed to get a bunch of items to make a Thanksgiving meal. During this pandemic, such special meals brought me grocery shopping at either Sobeys or Longo's. I know the layout of both my usual stores well. I wanted to change things up, though.Confession: I like supermarket shortcuts. We all should embrace them. One of mine is getting Stove Top stuffing and adding veggies to it. I was looking for a good price on stuffing that didn't force me to fight with the occasional crazy person at a major box store (starts with W and ends with -almart). I found it going for 99 cents at Fortinos.I do love Fortinos. Markham had one eons ago that was five minutes away from where I live. It left and I rarely go to any Fortinos. My closest ones are either in southern Scarborough (sounds exotic... lol) or Vaughan. On Saturday, I needed to pick up a couple of pre-orders in Mississauga. I remembered this Fortinos and decided to drop by on a soggy, rainy, gloomy day. This Fortinos is on my way home from work, which also feels like eons ago since I last went into the office. It's on Highway 27 in a vast plaza across from Woodbine Centre. I was more likely to hit the Winners nearby. There is a ton of parking. I found a parking spot fairly close to the entrance and exit. There is only one way to get in and out of the store during this pandemic, which is closer to Queens Plate Drive.I realized walking over to the entrance why I love Fortinos. It does little things to make your shopping experience more pleasant. There's a tunnel just before you hit the main doors that shields you from the elements. There's a huge banner indicating that healthcare workers get priority access, along with a nice thank-you message.I realize why I don't shop at Fortinos often, too. I can't get out of the store! I love seeing products that are new to me. I get completely excited about seeing gigantic meatballs that are ready to eat as a takeout meal, along with an amazing assortment of pizza slices. I wanted all of that, but had to stick with the shopping program. It's nicely organized in this supermarket. Wide lanes, Fresh produce. Clearly labelled sections and prices. I was so happy here! Who needs a happy pill when the high is natural... haha!During this pandemic, getting a whole turkey has been challenging in that you couldn't get a smaller one in weight. Well, it looks like things have changed. I managed to get an 11.5-pound one. So, instead of eating turkey leftovers for over a week, it's less than that now. Fortunately, I like leftovers, but it's nice to not shell out for a larger bird anymore.I found my stuffing. I grabbed a couple of boxes, as if I had won the jackpot. Prices at Fortinos tend to be on the pricier side, but they are fine if you get items that are on sale. There were perhaps three items that I got that weren't on sale, but the major items to make my meal were. I was happy. This supermarket is large. It has a similar feel to Zehrs in the Cambridge-Kitchener-Waterloo area, which I love. It's not overly large, but you do get a pharmacy and Joe Fresh. I could live here.I had a nice woman help cash me out. She and another woman bagged my groceries. It has been a while since I've seen a tag team bagging groceries. I have always defaulted to doing it myself.PC Optimum points are accepted here. I tapped using the barcode on my phone. I paid using a debit card. It was seamless.I wished both women a nice day. I then rolled my groceries over to my car. There was a man dedicated to sanitizing every single cart that was returned. I liked that.I passed by this grocery store yesterday, heading home from getting bagels and dairy-free cream cheese. Thank goodness it was closed for the holiday. Otherwise, I would have eaten my way through the market-style to-g

This location lacks customer service. I bought a coffee and was waiting for my sandwich to be made and one of the staff members named Natalie ran over to me and told me that I was not allowed to drink my coffee I bought from the store! I understand the mask policies that stores need to follow but the way she spoke to me was horrible. She called the manager on me and said I was refusing to wear the mask when my mask was still on my face! Natalie then threatened me saying in front of the manager "if we were outside this would be a different story". Natalie, violence is not the answer. When I told the manager Hussain that she just threatened me, mind you in front of him he didn't really seems to care and told me to write an email to fortinoes.ca or call the police. He was also very rude and unprofessional. How do these ppl get to be managers when they have no customer service skills? Beware of this store, the staff are very disrespectful and unprofessional. Natalie and Hussain do better!

Absolutely Disgusting, store smells like shit often. Especially around deli and meat section. they do not price match, Management does not abide by the law. Will discriminate against you if you have a medical condition. Extremely unfriendly staff that changes on a monthly basis as they can't keep employees. Only the most desperate will tolerate. Wish i could give 0 stars. Overpriced, if your in town its better to go too highland farms or Coppa, cheaper more variety and better quality. Better yet just avoid this place and go any other places, you will save money and get something better.

I was out at Fortinos today, and I was pleased to see their consistency. My feelings are still the same as they were last year. Since that review, we've had a Pandemic, quarantines, and a hugely changed reality. Happily, some things remain consistent and Fortinos is one of them. I still stand by these three points:1. I would totally go here in a zombie apocalypse. It has everything necessary to sustain life for a very long time. It also has products to add those subtle aesthetic touches (wine, flowers) which will cheer up your apocalyptic life;2. They have some unique ingredients, high end ones, that you can't find elsewhere. Excellent health food section;3. Rather pricey, unless you get stuff on sale. That is it, dear readers. Earlier today I had my usual, beautiful, Fortinos experience. I minimized the hit to the wallet by showing self restraint and reading the flyer. It is a very nice, upscale store.
