I love movati ! I started coming in June and I joined because of the classes and let me tell you they didn't disappoint me. Body sculpt, Barre and core are my three go tos and the reason is definitely the instructors. Lenka and Steph M are the best instructors that make you return. Steph's energy makes Barre fun and she's so encouraging and engaging. I really really love Lenka's class because of the way she teaches .. she really teaches you how to breathe ..how connect and feel the muscles you're working .. she takes time to check from even though her classes are always full. Lenka will push you to challenge yourself and is so empowering and motivating . ..she really is the reason why I stayed and I am consistently going. Steph too she will always say hi and tell me I did a great job and it's those little things that help.

-I had intended to go here only to swim, and I was under the impression that picking a trainer would be optional. It was not.-In the membership form, I specifically clicked "Aqua" and "Women" as my interests. I was forced to use the workout machines anyway.-The computerized health machine that I used at the start of my term uses BMI, which is now considered an outdated term for numerous reasons.-There is no way to cancel until after a year has passed. Yes, you can cancel within 10 days...but that is not enough time to notice any significant results.-Sometimes, the workout rooms have loud music and flashing lights. This is a concern for people who are sensitive to these.-All of what I said is not mentioned on the site (or at least it's not visible/clear).-At least the staff is affable and at least the swimming area is nice.Summary: I was forced to undergo strength training when I just wanted to use the pool. If there were suggestions on what exercises to do or what equipment to use when at home...I would feel much better about this gym. But there is not. The only good thing is the pool.

My girlfriend is moving to a different city and she went in to cancel her membership. The employees made the experience very uncomfortable to the point she was very upset afterwards, which in turn, made me very upset. They made her feel small and insignificant during a process which should have been as easy as hitting a button.Better customer service in the future, and plain not being difficult for no reason, should be practiced, especially at a place meant to improve one’s health. No stars if I could.

I am extremely disappointed regarding recent changes at the MOVATI gym, specifically related to the removal of child care services and the overall experience I have encountered as a member.Firstly, the decision to discontinue child care services, citing low utilization, has left me perplexed. I experienced considerable difficulty in securing a spot for my child, even after calling three days in advance. This issue suggests that there was indeed a demand for child care, and it contradicts the claim that the gym wasn't busy enough to support this service. Moreover, the limited hours of operation for child care facilities seemed incompatible with the schedules of working individuals, including those with a 9-5 job like myself. This raises questions about the accessibility of the service to a broader membership base.I took the initiative to reach out to the gym to express my concerns and frustrations, but regrettably, I did not receive any response or acknowledgment of my feedback. This lack of communication only added to my dissatisfaction with the overall experience.Furthermore, I am seriously contemplating canceling my membership. I initially joined MOVATI with the expectation of child care services, which were part of the package I signed up for. The removal of this service has altered the value proposition of my membership significantly. Additionally, I have noticed overcrowding issues at the south location, which raises concerns about overselling memberships and the availability of equipment, particularly the need for more than one Smith machine.I understand that managing a fitness facility can be challenging, but as a loyal member of MOVATI, I believe that these concerns deserve serious consideration. I hope we can address these issues to improve the gym's services and maintain a positive and mutually beneficial relationship between the members and MOVATI.

I went to Movati on a guest pass a couple of times for events, and it definitely has the feel of a premium club from the moment you walk in, to the time you leave! Especially with all of the new renovation upgrades they are doing!I was met with bright friendly front desk faces, with towels ready to hand out and checking in to see what might be needed during my experience. The change rooms were clean, with cleaners onsite throughout, and they were quick to offer any needs and direction! I took a few classes, and loved them all, yoga, to spin, to other group classes with weights and high intensity workouts! Great group of instructors they are all so motivating and experienced! On my way out, I grabbed a shake, one that I definitely recommend called “mocha rush”! And to top off my experience, it was made personally by Ethan, the member services manager, and ensured that I had another great experience returning to the gym! I felt like I received the premium services you might receive at a hotel/resort but at a fitness club!Thank you Movati! Keep up the great work

Movati Athletic is a primum gym/club that is my second home! I became a member here from 2009 when it was known as The Athlete Club! They offer a woman's only area for a swimming pool/hot tub, work out area, women's only studio for classes, and change rooms with a steam room, hot sauna, and private showers and lockers. They offer a full size gym and extra services like towels and squash. They have renovated the club and added new equipment with a nice layout. Work out on your own, join a group fitness class, or have a great workout with a trainer. The price is not cheap but it's worth the money and you get everything in all one place. I loved it so much I got a full time job here and loved meeting and getting to know awesome members. Come join us and start your fitness journey. You will be glad you did! :)

Good to see the place is getting cleaned up and machines are actually working. Customer service still needs work. Forgot my towel asked for one - $2. Fine. Went out to my car and got a toonie only to be told they don’t take cash. No towel and a bitter feeling towards Movati. Customer service is a great thing

Pros- recently updated with some new pads on machines, changed the dumbbells, changed layout. Variety of classes .. esp love belly dancing class !Cons- permanently took away child care. Unfortunately will have to find a different gym due to the loss of child care =( … very unfortunate that its to replace it with another studio when we have quite a few already.. so sad

Amazing club and staff and best price for what you get. No other options like this facility in the Guelph Area, do yourself a Favour and go check it out! Not sure about the previous post as in my 5 years experience as a member I can say machines are working and minimal downtime on broken equipment

Not the "luxury gym" i was expecting for the steep price. Its just another gym... The weirdest thing to me is the change room arrangement. iv been to many gyms over the years and all seem to follow the same idea of a bench in the middle of the "U" shape locker sections. this way you can face the lockers when seated and not face out into the changeroom.. its a privacy and comfort tool. Plus this way gym bags aren't taking up all the seating area when changing. honestly its such a simple fix, and i dont understand why it hasnt been done yet.

The management here is the worst I’ve ever had the displeasure to witness. General staff really do seem to show up willing to work and engage but without actual direction so it constantly seems to fall on members to point out basic things…1) bathroom stall in the ladies washroom being a gross mess2) that there’s only one wipe station in the entire women’s section with disinfectant wipes loaded3) locker areas that have more hair than floor not being swept out4) faulty equipment that takes an eternity to fixThen if there are accessibility concerns like scent issues in a change room? Good luck! They won’t even post a courtesy signs asking ppl to be mindful. Never mind that it’s actually triggering real world consequences and genuinely if you have any sensitivities with perfumes DO NOT SIGN UP. It’s a 50/50 chance the amount of perfume in the change room will be so obscene that it will still be as intense after your workout as it was going in as there doesn’t seem to be enough air flow back there for it to dissipate even after an hr of being out in the actual gym. These are all incredibly “bare minimum” things that I’ve never had to deal with within a gym before at the unprecedented levels they are present within Guelph Movati. The end of the day I had hoped the experience (at least with management & staff) would be comparable to Waterloo Movati. It’s not even close. You’re just paying premium rates for subpar service. There’s absolutely no reason this gym couldn’t be better even with the equipment issues. Management needs to learn how to actually problem solve and be proactive. Engage and find the problems that are actually impacting the guests coming through their doors and creating a sustainably welcoming environment.*All their women’s equipment is extremely outdated. They paid money to have it all re-covered, like spit shining a turd… Only now more of the machines are utter garbage from being taken apart and put back together poorly. It’s bad. The fact that if management was to prove more competent this would be more of an annoyance vs “I’m going to wait out my contract and go elsewhere” kind of issue should tell you how bad the management actually is.

- Group classes are great and I am loving the variety- Gym is always clean and there are disinfectant wipes all over the gym you can use- Staff seem friendly and approachable- Café is great! Shakes aren't cheap, but they're delicious and convenient. It's also nice to have the option to buy a coffee, tea or light snackMy wishlist:- Group classes between 7-9am during the week (right now it's only 615am or 9am)- Kickboxing group classes with bag rounds- Larger cycle studio since some classes fill so quickly- Automatic tracking on the Movati App of the classes you attend- Updated equipment, especially in the women's only section

Emma has to be the best yoga instructor in the club, her classes are energizing and fun. I've been going for the past few months and it has had a huge impact on my overall well being. Her quality of teaching is outstanding and she allows me to feel more confident and mindful in my practice. If you have the chance, stop by her class!
