I’ve been debating whether or not to leave this review, but after much consideration, I feel it's important to share my experience. I had a disappointing interaction at the cash register last Wednesday night. The young man assisting me asked if he could inquire about my ethnicity. When I politely shared my background and where my parents were born, he informed me that I was incorrect and proceeded to tell me the origin of my last name. This led to an uncomfortable and awkward silence.
I was taken aback by his response and didn’t know how to react. It isn’t right for an anyone to question or argue with a someone about their own ethnicity. I was shocked and disappointed by the interaction, and I believe that employees should be more mindful and respectful in their interactions with customers, especially when discussing personal matters like ethnicity.

american eagle overall customer service is horrendous. more recently i sent my husband to look for the halloween mickey slippers and he was treated like an idiot. he was told, with an attitude, they never carried slippers; when in fact, my co worker was just there the other day and they were front and center. even if it was just that they had sold out, i’m sick of the company not caring about appropriate customer service because it’s the reason i never want to shop with them. this is not the first poor interaction and, from previous experiences, it won’t be the last….

Customer service has greatly decreased and gone way down.5 employees in store at non busy time. Not 1 said hello, tried to assist. My child waited 15 minutes for anyone to come to back of the store where people were waiting for changerooms. Fast forward to the look and big sigh of girl who rung me thru that she actually had to scan a garmet to ring me out..to no..thanks..have a good day etc...nothing like Customers were a bother. In a time when tons of retail stores are closing doors forever..I would think better customer service would be present. I'd give my unpleasant experience a negative 5 if possible!!

The young lady who helped in the dressing room was AMAZING! I can’t remember her name but she went above and beyond. She recommended items and kind of helped us shop. She was honest but super kind about our fits and was so so positive.If I remembered her name I would say she deserves a raise or a bonus!

Went into the store to return an item and was asked for my name, address, phone number, email address and month of birth. I thought it was strange because I had returned items before without providing all that information.. turns out that the rep signed me up to their rewards program without my acknowledgement! Very unethical!!
