I am all for supporting local shops and suppliers but the prices at this store are just insane. Like $19.99 for some white flour ?!? And strangely there is no price on the item until you get to the cashier….Mustard seed was already not cheap but this one is unreal. And yes you can be local and have reasonable prices (pointing at “Goodness me” on Lock street for example).

Got a Too Good to Go box from the market and they tried to put moldy produce in the surprise bag. As I walked around, I noticed their $4 bunch of herbs were brown and wilted because they do not maintain temperature control. It's the same at Dundurn and Ottawa. To buy produce here is to waste money since it will absolutely spoil in 24-36 hours. They've also priced the small Silk almond creamer at $4.49 when local grocery stores are selling it at $2.99 - it is not rare, imported or local. The only reason to shop here is for the "vibe", which you pay premium for.

Inexistent customer service. Staff more concerned with filling cafe orders than checking out store purchases. Not sure if they're under staffed, but greeting customers and saying, "I'll be right with you," would have gone a long way.

The Mustard Seed has been reborn as the Strathcona market. Same focus on organic products with a new addition of a local wine selection.

Lovely little shop with all sorts of natural and homemade products and food. I bought a delicious loaf of bread, some pastries and what looks like the nicest carrot cake muffin Ive ever seen. Excellent service too! Delightful place to visit while you're in Hamilton.

A lovely little market with organic, gluten free and unusual products that you can't find elsewhere. Mad Mexican products are the real deal.

A lot of lovely locally sourced food/alcohol. Typical priced food for being local/organic, etc. Great environment. Tucked away off a busy street so careful pulling in.

Check this former Mustard Seed out! Well stocked natural foods store. Picked up my first refillable bottle of PUR Tangerine shampoo. Because it is based on semi - more natural ingredients it doesn't foam or lather as is typical. But that's fine with me as it still cleanses very well. $9.99 for 500 ml. (Feels good to do my part for the environment - but they need to not set the AC so low it's better on energy consumption if it's somewhat higher.) Good bargain on Green Beaver deodorant 5.99. Good competitively ranged prices on frozen meats. Produce is local. Pantry items are overpriced. They have a small dine in seated area. Am curious about their coffee, so I might check it out. Lost a star because cashier made a mistake on checkout. ?️

Two days ago l bought couple of items at the market. I had a very serious foot injury and surgery so l am in cast and use wheelchair. I got a cucumber and noticed that it was soft so asked staff to exchange it for me.. When l arrived home , during unpacking my daughter told me that cucumber is not only soft but had noticeable mild spots!!!!!!Disgusting!!!! Take a better care of your fresh produce since you charge so much.Awful experience.

I went for lunch on a Tuesday. Didn't spend too much time looking at the grocery items, but a lot of it seemed vegan. Out of four sandwiches/wraps available today, one was a vegan falafel wrap with hummus. It was very reasonably priced and delicious. The cafe menu is easily veganizable with three different non-dairy options. I got a cinnamon maple latte and enjoyed it very much.
